2014 V7R Error code
« on: March 05, 2016, 08:05:29 PM »
Bike came out of heated storage about 2 weeks ago and when started went to about 2000 rpm and climbed to about 3200 in about 20 seconds before I shut it down and it did it two to 3 times more before coming back down to normal idle. After starting it again I noticed the following message in the digital read out. almost looks like the LCD is not displaying right. Anybody have an idea what it might be?

Starting it after its been run and warm it will stumble  and I think I'm smelling gas

Might also be worth clearing the trims if there is a problem start up. Just disconnect the battery for thirty seconds and then reconnect it.

Thanks Pete and John....I'll do both of your suggestions tomorrow since it's supposed to be raining out here and I won't be riding.  I recently went from 91 Octane with ethanol to 89 Ethanol free (local station started to sell the ethanol free stuff) That may be part of the issue. Not sure....

The injectors might have been gummed up from winter storage, even with Ethanol-free.  That might account for the stumbling and gaseous smell.  Run some injector cleaner, such as Techron, through them.

Pretty unlikely.

Sealed fuel system means there's no way for fuel to evaporate in the lines leaving behind varnish.

More likely a little contaminated fuel in the tank.
