I always enjoyed them. Got to see them back in the 70s. Great concert.

They are all going. I will miss him even though I have not kept up with his life and career. The real issue is of course that we are all getting old. Seeing the demise of so many from my era makes this a personal issue. Love life while you can. The show does end after all.

I saw them in the mid 70's in OKC, the show was so amazing we drove to Tulsa to hear them again a week later.

 It was either Keith or Carl Palmer , like I said , the evening is a bit fuzzy . Wait , was that you and Bev sitting behind us , we were about 5 rows back in the middle ? :laugh: Damn , that was a couple of good years in OKC . Bob Seger at his peak , CS&N , Jethro Tull , Poco ... who am I missing boys?

Ah yes, the Brain Salad Surgery tour - saw it in San Diego. Nobody believes my stories, but maybe you folks would.

ELP and other three letter initialisms in play in that tour.

Oh, and my first car, a 1939 Buick Special, was named Tarkus.

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

 Hendrix almost joined up with ELP , forming HELP . Memory says it was Greg Lake who said the problem was "There were no stages large enough to contain all of those egos"  :laugh:

I discovered 'The Nice' just as they broke up - and couldn't wait to hear what would happen when Emerson teamed up with King Crimson standout Greg Lake.

When I first played "Pictures at an Exhibition" for my mother (a music teacher), she was completely blown away.

I saw the tour that led to the triple live LP, and a few other ELP and Emerson performances in the many years since then.

I'm going to have to put "Everything as nice as mother made it" on the headphones tonight...

I got to see the elevating, spinning, fire breathing keyboard in '73. To this day the best concert I've ever been to. Forget the name of the band that intro'd but they became very famous.

I never got to see them live but ELP were one of my favourite bands in the early 70's. I still have all their albums, some even on vinyl.

I read it in my newspaper today. He was always my favourite musician. The mighty Hammond B3 has fallen silent forever. The world for me has gotten a lot poorer.

Keith Emerson also was biker. His taste was extraordinarily good. He loved his Norton Commando he drove all the time.
