Another Guzzi, Titanium and tried out a RZ350
« on: March 13, 2016, 08:55:01 PM »
I bought a 03 Titanium on consignment at Rosefarm in Woodstock, IL. Really decent price. A genuine 8100 miles on the clock. Cam recall done and 2 plate clutch as well.
While there, Jim let me run out a RZ350 he just finished dialing in for some AHRMA racing down south next weekend.
That little 350 would dust my Nero Corsa in a drag race! I easily broke 110mph as I shifted into 6th but the train track crossing was coming up fast...............

Nice new machine for you - I'd love to have that RZ, as I used to race an RD400 back in the late 70s...

I have always had a thing for the RZ since it first came out - especially with  the KR special paint. Considering my first b Ike was a 2-stroke (Kwai H2) I think I will always have a soft spot for a classic sporting 2-stroke.

Wow.  Just wow.

My first ever motorcycle was an RD-350.   I was a 2 stroke fanatic.  Rode that smoker everywhere, especially the N Ga. Mountains.

Would love an RZ.

Had an RZ (with a few modifications) that would chase my VF705F through the first 4 gears; until the ton ... then brawn won.
If I could have either of those bikes back.... the RZ would be my choice.

I had an RZ back in the mid 90's. Pipes, Boyzen reeds , milled head, Corbin seat. It's on my why in hell did I sell it list. Sold it to buy a Pro-Flex full suspension MT bike which I still have and is also kind of a cult classic but not worth as much as the RZ.

Great find, JB.  I've always thought that configuration was the best of the EV-era Tonti frames.

Nice RZ, my first street bike was an 80 RD 400ds, then many many 81-82 RD 350LC.

I have an 86 RZ 350 basket case that i got as partial trade for something years ago, and i hope to have my 86 NS400 finished for this summer, i miss the smell of 2 stroke in the mourning:)

Congrats on the Titanium, John, great looking bike! I have an 03Aluminum, and love it, hydros are awesome once sorted, and it sounds like yours is well sorted. s far as the RZ..... what a machine, we have one in the family , an 84 with 4k original miles. If you think the RZ is fast with stock catalyst equipped pipes, you should ride one with Toomeys, and updated reeds.....a whole different animal!

Of course, I couldn't leave it that way............ Tossed the fat crossover thingee for an older one, put my staintunes on it, had HB EV brackets so added bags, my holey windshield (best windshield around once filled with holes) and my Todd Egan ECU. Ditched the silly covers over the brake and shift linkage. Put the little fairing on my Breva.
I bought the bike for my work trips when I can use the bike and for when my lady friend rides with.
I am looking for the tubeless spoked rims and a full size front fender.

NOGuzzNoglory, John B. would know for sure, but I think that little fairing was what came stock on Johns' Cali Titanium. Its the same as used on some V 11 sports also, with the big 8" round headlight, that had the fairing mounted to the 2 headlight bolts. I am sure that fairing is still available from Moto Guzzi, new, or you may find someone with a used one for sale over on the V 11 / Le Mans forum.

I have one of the last model RZs...an '89 F2 model. 63hp stock, bored, reeds...they are a fun ride. I toured and commuted on it for a while.
It's down waiting on crank seals, but we will ring ding ding again soon!

I always thought the Titanium was a looker.
