carb float valve seat repair

hey guys...
i have a triumph triple with keihin CVK36 carbs...
center carb started leaking...
checked float level and all is good.
replace needle valves and found that the seat has a small scratch on the side and is catching the needle, not allowing it to seat.
the needle seat is pressed in so them cannot be replaced...
does anyone have experience fixing this type of problem?
i was think of polishing the sides with valve lapping compound to clean up the scratch...
please oh wise ones, bestow upon me the knowledge obtained through frugality!

Replace the carb. It is the Japanese Way. The black screw on top Amals, Mk II Concentrics worked better in a previous life.

 Some pressed in seats can be very carefully drilled out and replaced . Never had much luck polishing out a scratch in one , always just buggered them up worse . YMMV , and worth a try .

I once chucked a  knitting needle in a battery drill and redressed a needle valve seat with fine rubbing compound.  Stopped the leaking. Just dress the tip of the knitting needle to match the tip of your carb needle and go to it. Valve lapping compound may be a little too aggressive on soft aluminum..
