New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
The other problem, that has plagued this model is the triple trees. Check for cracks. Not sure why. Maybe the metal used in them or Guido tried to save some pennies for the parts. This is/was the problem that showed with the 16" wheel up front. IMO. Anyone can correct.
The only triple tree "issue" I've heard of was the '85 version vs. later ones. In '86 they changed the offset, increasing trail and slowing the steering a bit. The material changed too - from nicely cast aluminum to roughly cast steel/iron. Never heard of either cracking. The later type was supplied as an "update" kit to anyone with an '85 that wanted it. Edit: Guzziology agrees with the above and says that "Later ('86-on) bikes again had aluminum clamps but of the revised dimensions".
I got the triple trees covered.
