+ Indycar races at Phoenix.

They just wadded up two cars on the first practice.

My DVR is running over time.

And of course there's also always a pro golf tournament too, not to mention Supercrosss Saturday night.  No wonder my weekends are usually booked.

Are you sure about that?  Both WSBK & Moto GP are on beIN network this year including MotoAmerica.  I get it all on DishTV.

Tomorrows Moto GP might be real interesting as the Argentina track is real abrasive and many riders crashed in turn 1 qualifying and 1 rider's rear tire blew up somewhere else on the track.  Last year Loris Baz's rear tire blew up @ 180 mph on the straight and sent him flying.  Luckily he had a fully inflatable leather race suit on and didn't get hurt, just bruised.

Marquez(who crashed hard) won qualifying with Lorenzo & Rossi on the front row with him.

Saw the SBK race (only one) last night where Chaz Davis won. Ducati seem to have found a bit more top end speed with their new exhaust.

Good for them.  Was feeling sorry for Chaz getting beat on the straights and working his azz off everywhere else.   Will see the race myself this pm.

Did you watch the Moto GP?   They're usually dull, but not THIS 1!  The saying " it ain't over 'till it's over" came to fruition.         Glad I'm not Ianone in the Ducati pits today.  :thewife:  Poor Dovizioso.  A Suzuki almost made the podium.

it was due to the Michelin tires burning up on the abrasive track.  Not the first time Michelin has missed the setup, remember the Indy F1 race about 10 years ago?

Seems to have bit Rossi in the behind in his chase with MM but he was fortunate that his three competitors for 2nd crashed out.  As well as JL earlier.  I felt bad for all three of them, particularly Maverick who had the Suzuki on the box.

"The Maniac" kinda lived up to his nickname this race.  Took Pedrosa wide at turn one, said if he hadn't gone wide he would have been taken out and seems like Rossi got a good look at it because he said in post race interview he gave way later in the race when the Maniac dove inside hard on him because he knew he would be taken out.  Then Dovi gets taken out by the same move right at the end of the race.

Funny how Pedrosa had a really bad race pace (28 sec back) but ended up on the podium due to the guy who screwed him on the first corner taking himself and Dovi out.

I certainly hope they have a "normal" dry race in Austin.
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

This GP was in no way your typical 1.  It was full of all kinds of off the wall surprises.  You have to admit that.

a "normal" Austin GP means that MM wins by 10 sec.

But I did have the joy of seeing him crash in '13 and seeing him qualify last year.

MM's qualifying last year was amazing.  Parked his bike by the pit wall and sprinted in full gear back to his pit for his backup bike and sets fastest time with a skittering, breathtaking performance.  Predicting slight rain chances on Sunday but Friday and Saturday will be clear.

yep ...MM's qual lap record happened right in front of me because I was sitting in T1.

Actually the story is even better.  MM not only got on the backup bike like you described, but once he got on, he had to complete his warm up lap before the checks fell- he did with about a second to spare. Then he set the lap record by sliding and banging the bike because they had mounted slower harder tires on the backup bike.

I was a real MM fan for a while.  Obviously no longer.  But it was the highlight of the weekend. Actually, it one of the best performance I've seen at a live race (not at the Indy 500).

Anyone else doing like the Moto3 Honda-Asia pits trying to wave at Pawi to go slower in the final laps?  That was an amazing ride.  Moto2 had the closest race to the finish and was the least exciting!

That's why I don't watch all the classes race.  To each fan their own excitement quotient.   :boozing:
