New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
I've been looking at later Model Ducati's for sale. The various Monsters are interesting, bigger bore models at reasonable prices. It seems they are all fuel injected? In all seriousness are the electrics reliable and are parts like ECM's and injectors available for less than silly money ? I don't want to buy a 4 grand bike and have it sit because of an expensive hard to find part... Thanks
Recently sold my 2006 Multistrada DS1000S. Lovely bike but be aware that most of the Ducatis using the DS1000 engine needed to have valve guides replaced early on - about $2500 if the dealer does it. Also the plastic fuel tanks will be seriously distorted by ethanol and a new tank is about $2400. Ducati no longer warrantees the tanks on older bikes.
Since we haven't had a problem with ours I've not paid close attention to the terms, but wasn't there a significant increase in warranty coverage from the settlement of the class action suit.
Re: cleaning the chain. Remember that paraffin in English-speaking countries = kerosene in North America.Say what?? Paraffin means wax. Is that like aluminum(us) vs. aluminium(them)?
My 2006 Multistrada was covered under California's 5 year 50K miles emission controls warranty. I may be wrong but I think the class action extended warranty coverage may be expired. Here's the critical link if you're interested:http://www.girardgibbs.com/ducati/
Dealer ? No way... What years and models have the distorted fuel tanks? By distortion you mean you can see it, or more like hidden damage ?
The tank distortion issue is/was related to the use of ethanol in gasoline. There's tons of info on this at Ducati.msApart from replacing the tank with an aluminum aftermarket version (and there are several), one can solve the problem by avoiding ethanol-mixed gasoline. It's hardly ever an issue where I live and ride but I can see how this could be rather inconvenient for certain Midwestern riders.
