Does anyone know of wheel bearings that'll fit the wheels of a 98 EV that I can get from Napa or some place similar? Original ones are kind of pricey.

If you have time. Try All Balls Racing. They do bike bearings. They have a web site and on fleabay.

Or as Dusty said, local bearing supply.

There should be a Dixie Bearings somewhere not too far from you. My '96 Cali uses 6204-2RS which is as common as nails and might be the same in your newer bike.

Yes, the 6204 is common in HIVAC, automotive (alternator bearings and idler pullys) and a lot of other items. I used to have a fight with my oldest son because he'd use my spares on his skateboard. So you should be able to get them almost anywhere.

If you buy off-brand pull the curtains and check the lube. I've gotten no-name bearings that were dry.

front wheel bearing 6304-2RS
rear wheel bearing: 6204-2RS
At least on my 98EV.

I just held a 6204 up to his wheel and it was too small.
I suspect it is 6304-2RS as Joe said.

6304 should still be common.

6000 series bearings are as common as muck and any half decent bearing place should have them.

Having sold bearings for a few years I would suggest getting a brand name e.g. SKF, Saeco etc. Used to sell a lot of the smaller ones to the people who had the small Chinese knock-off bikes which had "no-names" in their wheels. Wheel bearings and exhaust studs and they were away.

Paid about $10 a bearing at a quality bearing supply shop 15 years ago. Been good for over 100,000 miles. Guzzi shop wanted $80 per bearing. Go figure, go shopping.

Go to your local Fastenal store they will have the front 6304-2RS for $3.94. I have 30,000 plus miles on mine since I changed them and they are still fine.

SKF has an "EXPLORER" series which are supposedly their pick of the litter.

Not a lot of price difference and I've never managed to wear one out (I do keep them clean, lubed and water free).

The originals in my '98 V11EV are SKF.

I don't know if anyone cares, but for the record All Balls bearings are Chinese. They do have a very catchy logo.

Personally, I prefer something else.

Does the bike take four 6304 bearings?

Recently worked on a LoopFrame with notchy steering head bearings. The replacements I got were Japanese by NACHI.
So, I replaced notchy bearings with NACHI bearaings.

Also good quality. NTS pretty good; I gather Hoffman were bought out by a firm which a couple of buyouts later became NTS.

Buy quality bearings like KOYO, SKF or FAG. I just got 6204 2RS KOYO bearings for one of my other bikes for $3.90 per.

All Balls and Moose (rebranded All Balls) are typically from unknown Chinese manufacturers and can be of questionable quality. Know quality bearings can be had for the same price so why risk it?

Thanks for all the info. There's actually a Fastenal store close by, so I'll see if they have them in stock. For that price it's worth checking out.
