It's a classic glacial fijord. It's called Silver Bay. Those are humpback whales, part of our resident crew. They are "baleen" rather than "toothed" whales, which means they gulp and strain water to get the food out of it. They like herring and krill. When those pics were taken the herring were running and the fijord was a very busy brunch venue for seal, sea lions, orca, gray and humpback whales, a few varieties of porpoises, and of course eagles and sea ducks.
Chilkat is a good guess -- looks very similar, but it's a few hundred miles north of me, at Haines.
