We should start a poll...and take bets on what section of the country it will be in...if at all! (LOL)

They also need the skills to organize and stage a large event.  They would also have to gamble on how many would show up by footing the bill for deposit on a venue and/or catering.  This would be the accolades of some and the complaints of others.

Whether one is a member of MGNOC or not...or a member of WG or not...at the end of the day...it should always only be about "riding motorcycles and having fun..." (IMHO) :thumb: :1:

So, where is the 2017 National Rally being held again? (LOL)

I know there is a "great divide" between MGNOC and WG, winky winky. And, I have not owned a Guzzi, nor been a MGNOC member for years. But, when Ava or my friends ask about my motorcycle buddies, I always say, "my club." It may not be completely accurate, but that is how I view it. WG is the club to me.

I do not agree that day visitors should be asked to pay a rally fee if they are only day tripping to see friends, and not recieving meals, camping or swag. I also agree that if you partake in the goods, you should pay. I know that some of us are very serious about MGNOC membership, and some of us ain't. No matter. We been sitting around this cyber fire for a lotta years, learning, laughing, enjoying the BS. I hope it stays that way.

Attending the National Rally and meeting up friends is part of the rally.  The rally fee helps to defray the costs of the rally.  Usually there is no net profit.

I know there is a "great divide" between MGNOC and WG, winky winky.....

I have never understood the relationship between the two organizations although I have been a member of MGNOC for the past several years and a contributing member to WG also.  Now, since I no longer own a Guzzi, I will drop that membership but continue contributing to WG.

However, I expect to attend several Guzzi rallies in the coming year(s) because they are fun events and I enjoy meeting the people who will be there.  I also attend annual MWMOA events for the same reasons.  My riding calendar gets pretty full from late-April to early-November.

I am patiently waiting to see where the '17 Guzzi National will be held.  Given reasonable health, I will attempt to be there.  Hopefully, the timing for the event will not be in conflict with another long standing Guzzi Regional Rally.

Ride safe and have a Merry Christmas everyone.

Chuck H , there is no official tie between WG and the MGNOC , just lots of overlap . We are all friends , well mostly  and both places perform a function . Hope to see you at Cedar Vale .

Ditto. The only coincidence is that I happen to be a 15+ year MGNOC member and I built the second version of the MGNOC website and still maintain the classifieds.

But no ties in any official capacity whatsoever.

How about Kilauea?  Great scenery like no where else in the country, and nightly light shows.

I'm all for that!! (LOL) A little "spendy" to air-ship a bike over there...but what the heck?!?

I think a cool place for a National Rally in 2017 would be somewhere in the middle of the country - equal distance from both coasts!   :thumb:

Mountains of NC would be a great place maybe around Cherokee. Would be some great ridding and there are many hotels and motels as well as numerous campgrounds within small areas.

I just heard from the horse's mouth -- Frank himself -- that there will not be an MGNOC National Rally in 2017.  No one stepped up to do the work involved to do the rally.  Simple as that.

Too bad, but we can always go to the various regional Guzzi Rallies  that were not sponsored or supported by MGNOC.

Ride safe guys.

Thats to bad, can't say we didn't see it coming.  But just to be clear, MGNOC did not sponsor or support any national rally, or any rally whatsoever as I understand it.  And to me sponsor means put up some money to help pay for it.

As far as I know, that's right, Chad. The state "reps" take on all responsibility.

That's the way it's always been.

But hey.   What prevents any of the state reps who are putting on a rally ANYWAY from saying, "This rally I'm putting on will be the National Rally this year!"

What would they have to do differently?   Expect some more people, maybe?   Since there's no money received from the National organization, how is putting on a State rally different from declaring it a National rally?

The Loopframe guys have declared the Virginia Rally the "Loopframe National" after two dozen nice loops showed up at the VA rally a few years back .... !!

Just one of those things that makes you say "Hmmmmm ....."

A "major bummer..."     but I understand completely, because it takes a LOT OF WORK and more than a few dedicated Guzzisti to put on ANY rally, let alone a National.

This is also why in the last few years, NORCAL and AZ have put on a "N.A.R." (Not-A-Rally) just to get people together for a weekend ride!!  :thumb:   Certainly way better than sitting on the couch with the remote! (LOL)

There is always 2018, I suppose...

Two moving components that scare you off.  No real idea on how many are coming which gives you no real idea on expenses.

Yebbut, don't rallymasters have that problem with ANY rally?   Normally they have to project, based on pre-registrations and past experience, how many will be there - otherwise, there's no way to know.   Some factor like "Actual Attendance will be 220% of pre-regs" or something like that, to know how much food to get in, etc.

I was just wondering.   Certainly, if it were doable to "declare" a particular rally to be this years "National", a brisk young rallymaster would be doing it!

The main difference is that the MGNOC is a organization that promotes Moto Guzzi with dues paying members whereas Wildguzzi is just a message board.
