Harpers Moto Guzzi
« on: May 21, 2016, 06:18:45 AM »
As a fairly quiet member of this very cool Guzzi community I wanted to give a shout out and review of what kind of service I have gotten from Harpers Moto Guzzi.

I have been in the motorcycle industry since 1979 off and on and been a serious rider since 1969. I have seen a lot of dealerships both good and bad in my experience.

Harpers gets a BIG thumbs up from me.

Over the years I have gotten great service and information from Harpers.

I need a hard to find part....call Curtis.

I need a stupid question answered...call Curtis.

I need someone to do the work on my bike that I can not do.... Call Curtis...drive or ride over 100 miles and have Mike and Carlos get it done right.

I bought another Guzzi last year a V65TT and wanted it to be gone over and have everything fixed.

I took it to Harpers and gave Curtis a blank check so to speak. I told him all the things I thought it needed to be done and he looked at my list and told me what I needed to spend money on and some things that did not need to be done even though it was on my list.

Since I have done business with them  many times I trusted them completely. There is not another dealer anywhere that I would trust to  say " Fix what ever needs fixed"... and not even ask about cost.

I am not made of money and I hate wasting money but I was very happy every time I got my bikes back from Harpers but this time I just told them to do whatever it needs and the cost was less than I thought it would be and the service was first class.
I know there is no negative posts allowed on this forum concerning dealers....no bashing....I just hope it is ok to give a positive shout out to a real treasure to our weird little "Red suspender" community. Thanks to all at Harpers for keeping my Guzzi stable running strong!

A big DITTO from me on that too!

The Harper bunch have been the same for me.

They are quite a contrast to the rudeness I've experienced elsewhere.

The people at Harper's are polite, congenial, helpful and friendly.  Good people that I never dread having to call.

Another point, when you buy something from Harper's, it will be the real thing and not some improvised part sourced from a cheaper source.

Thanks a lot Curtis and Mike.  Don't get too big a head from all this praise, though!

I am only about 1,000 miles away but Curtis has gone above and beyond to help me keep my Guzzi running properly. Even meeting me at the shop on his day off to address some issues when I was on a road trip through the mid-west.

Always had good parts service from the crew at Harper's.  Helps to know them and spend some time with them.  Curtis and Mike have some good stories.  Alice is very knowledgeable on the parts end too.

My first Big bike, an 850 Norton Commando, was bought from Mike and Alice at their old shop in Raytown, Mo. Curtis was about knee high then. Anytime I have ever needed anything, even when it involved digging through boxes in the attic of the shop on your hands and knees, they have always been as helpful as I could have ever wanted. When I bought my Convert, it was just until I got something else. Harpers changed that.

Harper is just great.  My wife & I stopped in this past March while taking a road trip to escape the Michigan weather. We were treated exceptally well, Mike & Curtis were very open to show us around & meet the staff. I photoed the shop both inside & out and will share with the Michigan Guzzi crowd. Mike even recommended a Bar-B-Que spot that we went to for lunch and again a great find. We think the world of Harper and I have never had a problem when ordering parts. In fact there web site for parts is amazing.
Thanks Mike, Curtis, Robert & Robert who takes a lot of care in packaging fragile parts for my Norge. I needed lower fairing replacement parts after hitting a raccoon late one night last fall.

Never have done business with them but Curtis' (generally) posting and responses always make sense. Often a calm voice in a storm. While I am pleased with the people I do business with locally and in person, if I needed Harpers I would have no qualms about turning to them and trusting them completely.

Ummmmm , Gee schucks guys, Thanks for all the kind words. We do appreciate it. We try hard to make everything as good as possible. Obviously we fall short at times, but we are here to help keep your Guzzi world spinning daily. We always welcome calls for parts or some advice if needed. As I have said many times I hate the way that the internet based society has made things so impersonal so please feel free to call us anytime. Unless of course you want to know how to install something bought elsewhere.

But seriously, Thank you for the humbling things said, again we do appreciate it greatly.

Hi
I am a newby to this forum and thanks to this Harpers post I hope to be able to source parts for my newly acquired V50/3, which considering I live in the UK, is a sad indictment of the European pricing of MG spares. The cost of parts on your side of the pond is certainly way below what we are quoted here in the UK even with shipping taken into account, eg a full set of bottom end shells for my bike is quoted at 900 euros which equates to nearly 1100 dollars.

I'll join in and give Curtis another thumbs up.  I have been over there a couple of times and Curtis was great.  There is another Moto Guzzi "dealer" (Reno's) that is closer to me.  Nice people, but they act like they really didn't want to handle MG.  I think they were forced to sell them in order to keep Aprilia.  Curtis obviously is really into Guzzis, so I will drive the extra distance.

Mentalfloss, and here I was thinking that I was the only Lawrencian with a Guzzi.  I am the guy with the 2012 Tenni Green Griso SE.  If you see me riding around town, throw something at me. (a wave, not a wrench)

For some of you newer forum members.....Harper's is also owned by an enthusiastic Guzzi owners, collectors and riders.  Makes a difference than a dealer that has to floor the bikes because of them wanting to handle Aprilia or Vespa.
