LED light plugs into USB
« on: May 29, 2016, 09:59:04 AM »
CHEAP (Guzzi content!).  Here's an inexpensive LED light that takes power from a USB port.  I'm thinking that this will be my trouble light on the road since I have a USB port wired into my Stelvio and V7.  Heck, this might even be a good light for working on the bike in the garage when I need to get into a tight place.

What I do....
Get a normal incandescent taillight bulb. Add long wires and clips. Add some heat shrink.
Carry with you is a trouble light and debug tool. Most of the time you really don't need to know if it is 12.4 volts or 12.8 volts. And being incandescent you don't care about getting the wires backwards.

That's a good find , 5 lights for little money. I like that you can put them just about anywhere too. Tape one on the underside of the seat. With a USB extension you can drop it between stuff to see where otherwise you're trying to see where a flashlight wouldn't work well.

Yeah, I do that, too. I never have *needed* it so I guess it must have good ju ju.

Five of those little fellas on a usb hub could throw some serious light.

When I'd be using a trouble light is when I can least afford to use the electricity.  So I'm in favor of the lowest load solution, which is of course LED.  I was at the marine supply the other day and saw 12v screw-in cabin light bulbs in the 7 - 10w range.  If I wanted to really flood the campsite and already had the cord and fixture I'd get one of those.
