That required an internet search Dusty. Looks like something that would be very bad for my sugar levels!

I always thought that treats like this are so good for your spirit, that it more than offsets any damage that might be caused. The Mayo Clinic hasn't ruled on this theory yet, but I am sure they will agree...

Not around springpatch I think it's the most non cultural part of the US unless you count redneck honkeys as a cultural group. most evolve into those people you see in the wal-mart photos. You can still find some culture in St. Louis if you don't get shot!

If you want a good, nay GREAT kolache, come to my place.  I'll take you the the Czech village in Cedar Rapids IA.  Great Czech restaurants and beer. :boozing:   Vy všichni přijdou teď slyšíte

Everybody's been talking about the sweet kolache, but I'm a fan of the savory - sausage and other meats, cheeses, and so on. You'll see plenty of variations on these in western Canada, where the Ukrainian, Polish, central European and eastern German immigrants carried over all their memories.

Unfortunately, here in Las Vegas there is only one place that is known for them, and anywhere else they'd be second-rate at best. I miss San Antonio and the Hill Country...

It seems all the states in the middle have one (or more) Czech Capitol towns that sell some version of the things (my last name is Bohemian).
