Need an opinion on a V7II
« on: June 09, 2016, 11:44:44 AM »

I'm a lurker here, and I usually don't reach out to people for opinions on "what I should buy", but I respect this group and I am today.  I've ridden Guzzi's on and off for a while.  Last year I picked up a 1400 California, and I really like it.  I've admired the V7's as well (but they seem a little 'small' under me.

I'd welcome any thoughts over how goofy my 6'1"/280lb self looks on this Stornello (beyond my general goofiness, I mean in relation to the bike).  Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Mark

I'd take a test ride, if you haven't.
The best alternative would be to try a new Triumph Bonneville with a little more power.

Unless your goal is to be a poser I wouldn't give a rat's rear if the bike works for you.  :thumb:

Shoot, you look better than me, and I don't care what I look like. I'm having too good of time riding to care. I takes me back to my youth and makes me feel like I'm flying, like it's all so effortless (yes, you can have some of what I'm smoking  ). Get the bike and do your own thing. Just don't lurk.

Hi Mark,

This post is funny!  I asked my wife and son the same question a while back.  I was sitting on a V7 Racer at the Motocycle Shop and to me it felt really small.  I told them I felt like one of those "twin brothers" that rode the mini-bikes in the Guiness Book of World Records.  They said I looked fine (6'1"  230#), as do you.  It just felt different because the V7's a slightly smaller bike than my Griso.

Hopefully you work out a deal on that Stornello.  It is a fabulous looking ride.  I would absolutely love one myself!

Looks great if you ask me and IMHO you are in one of the best shops in the country to buy one (C&D in Robinson).

Hi Mark:

I have a V7 in addition to a Cali 1400. The V7 is a hoot and it reminds me of my 70's Triumphs from the day.

I added 2 inches to the seat height for my 6' 2" frame and it is all day comfortable.

Thanks all for the continued feedback; Craig and I made a deal today, and my California is getting a baby brother.  I do expect to be. making some suspension changes, as these things seem to be sprung for children (haha); but beyond that, I'm leaving this one alone.  It seems perfect all on its own!

Super congrats.  Saw the bike yesterday.  Whether someone likes/dislikes the whole Scrambler thing, one item is incredibly hard to deny - that Stornello is dripping with beauty in person.  Craig's a great guy though he did share yesterday when I was in the shop that you are now ahead of me in terms of purchases from C&D  :boxing:  I will maybe have to buy another one soon, er, I mean someday.
