I have been looking on and off for a V11 Sport for the last year or so. More specifically something from the LeMans family. This clean '03 popped up locally and I had to have a look. A look turned into it coming home with me.

Not in the picture but it has Hepco bags and trunk to fit those brackets. The luggage kind of sealed the deal.
Pretty much stock except for the relocated footpeg kit.

Hope to ride it up to the MN Guzzi rally in Grand Marais in a week.

Well I had my first issue with the bike today. I was out for a very short ride, couple of miles only. I was almost back to my driveway and the shifting felt odd for a few shifts, like the return spring wasn't working. Downshift to turn into the drive and I got nothing. The end of the shift lever broke off, the splined lever that attaches directly to the transmission.

Snapped clean off.

Look at the broken part. Then look at the same part on my 850T project that sitting there. Looks the same even though they have a different part number. Some sort of part number change happening in 2003 it looks like? I use it anyway and I am back in business. Now I need one for the 850T.

Congrats on the purchase. It's beautiful.
I'm heading up to Cavalier, ND next week for their Father's Day extravaganza, then off to Grand Rapids, MN for a few days to ride around. Have your shop GPS'd and hope to say hello and see that gem.

Uhhh.

Well, I guess the Bobber can trace it's heritage to when Guzzi designed it. Still a Tonti frame, anyway. I looked briefly for a very nice Photoshop job of a nuevo small block LeMans that I've seen. It looked doable, and I'd be a player for that. With the obvious direction Piaggio is taking, though.. it won't happen.
Ok, you've convinced me. The spineys are the last of the real *big block* Guzzis.

Find someone that can aluminum welding. What's that for? I currently have a footpeg mount at a welder's. He's pretty good and the part is unobtainium unless I take it off my Cal III.

That shift arm broke because the linkage in the motobits footpeg relocation kit puts more strain on it than the stock linkage does. That part can fatigue over time and break as yours did. If you weld it or replace it you should have support plates welded to the sides of that part to prevent it from breaking again.

I kind of noticed that when I was looking at it. The stock linkage isn't nearly as far out as the Motobits linkage. The Motobits lever is also a bit sloppy on peg pivot but I should be able to take care of that.

Had the bike out today. Had my usual problem when I hop on something that is newer than 1980. 80 mph feels like 60 mph.
