The boards on my Vintage are the first I've had on a bike. I have come to really like them, but it took some effort to get them to work well. The brake arrangement takes up a great deal of space on the right board, the angle of the shifter limited space on the left. Fortunately, the angle of the shifter may be adjusted in two different locations and shifting leverage may adjusted to two separate effort levels. This allowed me to move the front of the shift lever upward so the front of my foot fit underneath. Unfortunately, the nub-equipped brake pedal on the right board can only be replaced. I use an Advanced Brake Pedal, but these are no longer available. It isn't perfect as it flexes a bit, but the handbrake is so effective that I just adjusted the foot brake to engage late. Modifying/adjusting the controls really made the foot boards effective.

I also made some other ergonomic changes (higher seat, Stone handlebars, Rifle windshield, etc) that work really well with the boards. I still prefer pegs on an off-road or sporting ride. However, those foot boards are the stuff for long days behind a windshield.
