Made life much better last evening and night. Thunderstorms knocked out our electricity at about five yesterday. Didn't come back on until 9.5 hours later. We still cooked supper, finished drying clothes in the dryer and the A/C stayed working. Spent about a whole minute without power. Ended up with an inch of badly needed rain.
About 20 miles SW of me they had about 10 inches of rain, bit much.

Had a Generac setup in a home we rented.  Very smooth.  Does yours autostart when it senses an outage?  Ours did and there was only a couple of seconds of outage.  Also, I think it autostarted in the middle of the night without an outage, maybe as a design feature to avoid long periods without use.  I'm without my Honda 6500 generator for the first time in 30 years in our new home.  Will likely go for another Honda at some point.  How is the build quality of your Generac?

It is the auto start when the power goes south. It also runs for 15 minutes once a week. You can set the day and time of the weekly run. Has a pretty good self-diagnostic system. Appears to be well engineered. V-twin Kaw engine, all service items are easily assessable. Mine is powered by propane through my propane tank that is used for my furness, so generally I have plenty of fuel, no mess, and burns clean. Cabinet is rodent proof.

You got it, an MEP-003A.  The engine is an Onan, and the unit was built by the Libby Welding Co. in the '80s.  I got it by way of eBay a few years ago, but they're available surplus as well.  The MEP-802s and 803s are taking over the surplus market now.

I also have a Generac, v-twin installed about 10 years ago. V-twin but I thought it was an in-house design but that is a guess. Our only problem, was a transfer switch that went south from a power surge which cost me $500 bucks to replace. I could have gone to manual flip, but it didn't seem to be worth it, but it could happen again.

My only complaint is that it is loud, but that is minor compared to not having AC post hurricane.
