Final Drive oil in a pintch
« on: June 19, 2016, 07:50:51 AM »
Notice a leak coming from my drain plug on my final drive of my 2003 EV 11. I tighten it. Looks like it holding. If I can't find the graphite 80w 90 oil, would I be able to supplement what was lost with regular 80w 90? I am in southern Utah on my way to Salt Lake City.

I had plan to buy a plastic measuring cup, drain the final drive then supplement what was lost.

Will check in later. Phone is about to die. Thanks.

Any 80w-90 gear oil will be fine. Top off and keep on rollin'. Or drain out what's left of the old and refill with fresh. and keep on rollin'. Moly or any other additive is just a bit of added protection while nice it definitely not necessary.
