Few place names have the melodious ring of "Toad Suck, Arkansas." Of course there's a Harley dealership there. I don't know how many bikes they sell, but they do a booming T-Shirt business.

Then again, when I was watching Predator I didn't think two members of its cast would become governors, either. So you never know.

South Bend is north of North Vernon. In Miami county, Indiana, there is a village between the villages of Denver and Chili called Tin Cup. The county also has a town called Mexico.

Kansas, OK. The only place I have received a ticket on my T-3. Almost two miles out of town by the town cop for 54 in what was an unmarked 45. He said it is 45 for two miles. This was back in the 55mph max days.

I travel through "Little" Kansas several times a year , yes , it was a speed trap until the state implemented the shared revenue plan , kind of put an end to most of the local shenanigans .

Yeah.  Had a friend stopped there.  Northbound on OK-10 into little Kansas.  There is a rise south of town and people come zooming over that rise, and there's the town cop sitting in plain sight.

He had gotten behind the group and was trying to catch up.  We were all sitting in the gas station at the junction, watching him zoom up to the stop sign, quickly followed by the town cop.

Great entertainment at his expense!

Then there's the motorcycle-friendly town of Texas in Queensland. On the current trip, we fuelled up at Cocklebiddy on the Nullabor, then camped that night at Domblegabby. We visited Coober Pedy, the opal mining town. The name comes from the aboriginal "Kupa  piti" meaning "white man in hole". Apt.

Guy from New Jersey walks into a Tastee Freez in Nacogdoches TX , walks to the counter and asks the young lady "How do you pronounce the name of this place"? The young lady replies

I'm on vacation in Taos NM.  And saw a couple about my age wearing OU attire.  I said hello and greetings and  where we in Oklahoma we are from.  And they replied:

wait for it:

A few years ago, coming home from Randy Tefft's first New Hampshire State Rally, I went through Texas and Mexico, New York.  I made the mistake of calling home (Texas) and telling family I rode all the way through Texas and somehow ended up in Mexico.  That got 'em all worried!   Beaver

Are we talking the store at the very West end of Slapout ? It has always been open during normal hours when I have been through there . Even the "Mercantile" located in Kenton has been in somewhat regular operation for years now , and believe it or not , Kenton is WAAAAYYY more remote than Slapout  Actually Mike , you know that , having been through Kenton at least once .

Here is a view from the cemetary looking east toward Kenton.

Great pic Stevie , really want to retire in Kenton . My arm used to be strong enough to throw a rock into both Colorado and New Mexico from Kenton .

Love Black Mesa , from there on West is some truly rugged country , Just don't get on highway 456 in New Mexico after a long rain  Amazing how much Oklahoma changes from my little corner in NE Oklahoma to the Black Mesa/Kenton area .

Yeah.  That's some pretty country...  This is "the highway" west of Kenton, in New Mexico...
