Outstanding bike..the Breva 750

Rode up to Scotland last Monday/Tuesday - 690 miles up with a stay overnight in a camping barn  - I don't recommend it as accomodation. The 12 year old Breva never missed a beat, and I was able to spend 2 more days with my mother, before riding 648 miles back on Friday/Saturday. Again my Breva was a faithfull and tireless companion over motorways and mountains, in rain and sunshine. Highlights were;

The A7 between the English border and Hawick. What a great stretch of road, slooping and curving between lowering and brooding deserted hills, full of a violent history....hardly anyone else on the road.

The A93 between Blairgowrie and Aberdeen - a rollercoaster between great scenery especially between the Spittal of Glenshee and Braemar.

Coming over the high ground in the Forest of Bowland, deserted looking high fells, just me on the narrow road, in the rain, but it was enjoyable. And then staying in the excellent Slaidburn Youth Hostel at the bottom of the hill, with a good bed, good food, and good company for the night.

Cant wait to visit Scotland again.....but first....France and Spain in a few weeks time!

Thanks for the trip report. Generally we see, dang, my Guzzi has a problem. Can you fix it?  It's just the nature of a web site to see complaints rather than, "dang. I love my Guzzi. It's as reliable as a hammer.."

My 750 Breva was pretty much bulletproof until the clutch went out last summer with no warning @ 48Kmiles.  Haven't gotten around to fixing it yet since I have other rigs to ride in the meantime.

Must admit that my Breva puts a smile on my dial every time I ride it. In spite of a couple of gearbox hiccups it really has been a joy. The motor has literally never missed a beat and runs like a Swiss watch.

Only reason I got rid of my '04 Breva 750 was that it was just too cramped. It was a very enjoyable bike otherwise, a lot like a happy puppy waiting to go for a walk whenever I walked out into the garage...

Funny, when my right hip collapsed the most comfortable seat in the house was the Breva!  Took a while to get off and on though......

Wayne, seems premature for the Guzzi 750 series.  What are your thoughts on the clutch failure?

She's not at all cramped, but then again I am 5 foot 3 inches tall.

Don't really know yet but read on earlier small blocks the clutch has 3 springs and sometimes they fall out.  Maybe that's what happened to mine.

When I bought the Breva in 2004 my first experience of it was a 25 mile ride to a cafe and back home, where I went inside, took off my jacket, helmet and gloves and put them on the kitchen table. Then went outside to put look at the bike, and pulled the door to behind me, thus locking myself out!!! So I had a good 2 hours sitting admiring the bike until Jill came home and let me in. 

Since then we have had 43,000 miles of adventures, only 1 breakdown (bad battery), and the bike has got a bit scruffy and I have got a bit older, balder, and fatter. There is a difference between 38 years old and 50 thats for sure.

Great times in the past, I hope great times in the future. Why would I want another bike???
