Thanks for the trip report. Generally we see, dang, my Guzzi has a problem. Can you fix it?  It's just the nature of a web site to see complaints rather than, "dang. I love my Guzzi. It's as reliable as a hammer.." 

So I thought I'd add to the positive posts

On Saturday Beetle sent me a new map to try out so I was forced to take the bike out for a few hours 

Went out to the western edge of Canberra and ran around the hills and up to the Mt Stromlo Observatory.
The sun was shining, the bike was singing and I was smiling.

Well I'm glad someone knows how to tame the V7II.  Did he smooth out the tranny shifting too?

I don't have a problem with shifting, so I'm not sure what you're referring to.

The six speeds usually shift like butter. So far all the ones that have shifting issues seem to have because owners don't seem to know how to adjust the clutch.

Then in  my case it would be the dealer who let me test ride his demo @ the Guzzi National.

I just passed 10,000 mi on my V7II, and I can report that the engine has always purred beautifully and the gearbox has always shifted as smoothly as butter.  There has never been any problem with either.  But, I do know how to adjust the clutch cable and change the fluids, and I haven't let my dealer get anywhere near the bike since I bought it.  There have been some real horror stories reported here lately about dealers screwing up these motorcycles, out of complete ignorance.  They apparently don't like to read manuals.

My wife has a 2102 V7 racer. Done 8000klms. Bike has been great but after drilling out the OE mufflers, it runs a little rough at small throttle openings. IE up to 1/4 turn

Bike starts easy idles great and goes great after that initial throttle opening.

Is this something that a remap might cure? Do you know anyone in Brisbane that may be able to remapetc.

Any info appreciated. New to the forum and still finding my way around.

First question? Why did you drill out the mufflers?

Second question? What know-nothing numpty suggested it would be a good idea?

Fact 1. The 'Modification' will not match any known baseline of tested aftermarket pipes so for optimum performance, (Which will NOT include a sudden, neck-snapping increase in power or torque!) it would need a custom map to be built. Be prepared to buy logging kit, learn how to use it and accept you've made a rod for your own back.

Fact 2. You will be offered several *Easy* solutions. None of them will be optimal and most of them won't be very clever.

Twice in my life I've demoed a smallblock from a dealer (two different dealers, two different models B750, V7 Stone) and had to pull over in the first mile to adjust the clutch or adjust it before I left the parking lot.
