Christmas in July
« on: July 08, 2016, 08:55:03 PM »
I just wanted to remind the Houston Guzzi Riders and others this the Christmas in July Saturday for the Norville Center in Kaufman.  I and Cloudbase on the board have been a few times and it really is a great thing.

I know it will be hot, so dress cool, hydrate and hope to see some of you there.  I posted a really cool flyer on Guzzi Riders in Texas on Facebook, but don't have the smarts to get it here.  This is late cause I worked over.

Can't make it this year, Dan.  i've got my biennial flight review scheduled for tomorrow.

If any of you can make it, the ride is for a great cause.  Besides, how can you put a price on the chance to hang with Tex for a couple of hours?

Five Guzzis and 131 other bikes showed up on a hot Sat for this worthwhile charity. It was a 15 mile group ride from Terrell to Kaufman. I HATE group rides but I make this one exception. Again we were greeted with ice soaked cold towels. Mighty fine.

Guzzi riders were again one of the highest donors. A biker asked me if I beat em up all year to get so much money.  NO NO. All Guzzi riders that have attended will agree that supporting this childrens home is worth it. This is one of the few homes that take from age birth to 18. It is very important to keep these youth together. Even had a lunch of sausage on a stick, sloppy joes, chips and cookies.

Special thanks to Dan Wolfe for making the 300+ mile round trip. And to longtime friend Bill Owens who is recovering from throat surgery and is talking with a voice box for making it. We could tell how bad he felt, but that didn't keep him from making the ride.

Riders, I just can't imagine what it is like to be taken from your place by CPS because your mom is on crack, drunk or not there. CPS workers and those that run childrens homes are a special breed. Rick and his wife have been at this one 19 years. (I wouldn't last 19 hours and I'd be out wanting to kill a sperm donor.)

Stop by and visit if your are in Kaufman, Texas

Thanks,
Tex
