Why didn't this show up as one cylinder cutting out similar to a bad plug lead?

Update:
I'm just saying if you had given us this information we might have saved you a lot of grief, it's pretty easy to tell when one cylinder is cutting out.

I wish I had found this eariler also when I first checked the plugs, but the previous owner  thought it was in the ECU and map and had gone at it from that angle I Assumed the reason the plug was fouling on the  left was due to the map or possibly a sensor and not running consistent or long enough for the ECU to learn the new settings. And Guzzi Diag did not find a problem with the injector or the circuit ,nor did the other 3 Guzzi dealers with their Diagnostic programs ,the previous owner had taken it to multiple times when the same problem kept surfacing.  Some times you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes your just left with your finger up your arse trying to figure out what's going on. This time I finally lucked out I've been working at trying to learn  the Breva language  off and on since April. It's running consistently now but I'm still putzing with the maps and syncing  throttle bodies to get  over 90 mph, I'm assuming it should hit at least 100 mph.  Anybody with a Breva care to  share what speed I could expect with a well running Breva?

You are right, somewhere along the way one of the dealers should have realized it was missing on one cylinder.
The problem was intermittent, faults like that are the worst to troubleshoot.

You deserve a medal for taking on the problem and finally solving it where others couldn't.

I'm sure the Breva is more than capable of doing the ton.

Kiwi Roy, we don't need no stinking medals , we now have a running Breva, I'm not sure if it's persistence or stubbornness . I get the personal satisfaction of knowing I brought a bike back to life, that gives me a smile when I or my wife gets on it and it frickin works.

However the shared glory of said resurrection needs to spread around the group, to  all those who made suggestions and offered support, especially Beetle who responded to every request and almost every post I put out there. This guy deserves a lot of credit and has my gratitude for his assistance.

Dave

The Breva crew will probably chime in here, but my V7C with the same engine, & less restrictive mufflers than stock, & a stock map, runs up through the gears freely up to 90mph, but from there to 100 or more needs a bit of a run up. It can sit on 90 to 95 (keeping up with Monzas), but it uses more fuel & there's not much left for overtaking. That you've got the plan well. 80mph (130kph - the speed limit in the NT) was comfortable all day, day in, day out. I do know Breva riders who get more out of their Breva than I do out of the V7C.

Congratulations on finding the problem. Must put that fix somewhere safe for later on.
