I purchased my 2012 Griso from Riders Hill in late June/early July of 2012.  The dealership arranged to have me picked up at the Atlanta airport and driven to my motel in Dahlonega, GA, and brought to their dealership the following morning to complete paperwork.   They provided me with a loaner Griso while final service was being completed on my bike by GuzziSteve.  The weather was hotter than hell, but the dealership made the entire experience painless, actually enjoyable.

Such a shame that a dealer as nice as this folded up the tent.  Their location was beautiful, and located on some of Georgia's nicest motorcycling roads.

I hope Anthony was able to sell his location at a good price, and that another motorcycle dealer was able to move into it.

Anyone know?

Bob

He still owns it as far as I know, for lease. Haven't been over that way in a month. Been going farther east (no traffic).

Ditto on all of that.

I don't think we will see the likes of Rider's Hill up there again anytime soon.

Same for Steve.

Steve is extremely knowledgeable and experienced on Guzzi bikes and he is personable, friendly and accommodating.

But as everyone knows, it's not just the location and the quality of the facility that gives a business the potential to be successful, as was Rider's Hill.

It's that intangible thing called "Good Will", which is the majority of the value of a business, often way more than the physical plant, which includes trust, people skills, name recognition, and other things.

With most of the "people" gone that made the name, and starting from a blank slate, sort of, on facilities, who would possibly take the chance of making a big investment in this business, banking on a decent return that would make a living for them and allow them to make a payroll?

Lots of people on this list have successfully run or managed large and small retail businesses of this sort - some actually run motorcycle shops and would have the BEST take on the potential of a "New" Rider's Hill.   Do we think anyone's going to put up the money and take a chance?

I'd love to see it, but afraid it won't happen.

When I rode past about a week ago, RidersHill was still chained shut and had a large for sale sign still in front.

I bought several bikes from Anthony,  He ran a business the correct way and it's a real shame that they've closed the doors.  I doubt that anyone will take on the task of attempting to duplicate what Riders Hill did.

I will NEVER forget "after hours" with guzzisteve and Ian Adkins prepping the '70 Ambo
for that years Nationals trip! Just a time in space when all good things came together.
May never again see a dynamic dual such as those two tag teaming one bike for my benefit.
I am eternally grateful.

Yes and RH, for the most part, was selling niche-bikes like the Guzzi, Aprilia and MV.

Late in the game, they took on Suzuki but it was too little too late.

If only they could have picked up a Harley franchise! lol

David from sales works for a local HD shop. One of the best sales guys out there. Aprilia guys have no shop in GA now.

Riders Hill always went way past normal.

Bought a new Black Eagle & exactly 250 miles from the shop the o-ring where the drive unit mounts to the swing arm blew out & spewed oil.
Guzzi road side only want to cover $100.00 of the $450.00 tow bill.
Riders Hill covered the tow bill, fixed the bike & Dave delivered it to my house 7 hours away during a tropical storm.

Now that's service!

For those who want to get rich quick here ya go

http://www.ridershill.com/inventory/---will-cobb-with-norton-commercial-properties-property-for-sale-or-lease--motorcycle/

That's not a bad asking price for what is there.  I'm sure there is some room for negotiation.

I don't think we will ever see a another motorcycle shop there.  At least not one anything like RH used to be.

You are buying a gold mine w/that property, the shaft is filled in up on top by gravel lot.
Might even see a bear walking around.

Ahhhhh, so that's why Anthony always told us that dealership was a gold mine!

if you sold every Guzzi and Aprilia sold in the US each month you couldn't even cover the rent yet alone the payroll for employees needed.

truth is if you open just about any business today you can be sure to be a millionaire in two years.
assuming that you started with two million!
