1200 sport rack

Hello,
bought my Guzzi last year and i am absolutely in love with it.
it came with some strange racks in rear, perfect fit, so i am pasting picture here, maybe someone could recognize what is it and what panniers for is it.

Dunno but here is what the factory aftermarket setup looks like to run Norge hard bags. You can see the lower mounting point just above left of the passenger peg. There is also a rubber stoppie sticking out from the rear fender that supports the rear edge of each bag. Very solid mounting system.

To me that looks like something for soft bags just to keep them from moving inward toward the wheel.

Definitely not Givi or Hepco Becker.

Also agree. Here's a couple of pics of Hepco Becker aftermarket mounts for their 30 and 40 liter Junior bags.  Note much heavier construction than the ones you showed.





(Excuse the grunge.)  Still recovering from heart surgery and 1200S hasn't (sadly) been ridden since early May, 2016.
Hopefully spring cleaning will get done before this winter!!

They look similar though not the same, as the stock Guzzi bag mounts.  But I have no clue as to what bags go with what you have.

I don't believe those could be for a hard bag, nowhere near sturdy enough and no cross bracing.

The Norge setup that tpeever shows is nice and has 3 points that contact the bag itself to keep it in place and not rock back and forth (4 if you count both loops for the hooks on the top of the bag individually).

Ohioriders Hepco-Becker racks are plenty robust and what I would expect for a good, solid, hard bag attachment to include the crossover bar at the rear.

The ones on your 1200 appear to be of a thin material and have no side to side bar, I would expect a fully loaded hard bag to bend these or snap them off if there were even a way to hook one on there.

I maintain this looks like something to support some soft bags, perhaps ones that just get tossed over the seat and hang there.

They might be for hard bags if part of the support frame is missing.   Anybody got a pic of the stock Guzzi set up?

got a soft 3 piece modular type bags from Kriega. works great.
