4 spd clutch rod stuff needed for loop
« on: July 22, 2016, 11:14:52 AM »
I posted a couple weeks ago that my clutch was acting up needing more and more adjustment to work. Thought it was the puck seating in place but in fact, the needle thrust bearing grenaded and caused the clutch rod to spin in the puck slowly grinding it down.
I have a decent puck but what I need is everything else from the puck back, including the seals.

Anyone out there have what I need? New or used? Dealers welcome to reply!
MG Cycle stocks the rod but I didn't see the other stuff.

John:  What is the condition of the throwout bore in the rear cover of the transmission?  The 4-speed  has both 20mm and 22mm versions.  Occasionally, when the throwout bearing disintegrates the waste bits can tear a groove in the soft aluminum bore and you'll have a persistent leak.  I can do a repair to install a stainless sleeve to restore the original dimension and smooth surface.

MG Cycle has the throw-out bearing in both 20 and 22 mm.

They also have the pushrod: http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=55&products_id=223 or one can be made out of 6 mm drill rod.

I can send you six clutch pushrod o-rings for FREE, all I need is your mailing address. I've had the "upgrade" cones leak, but never the o-ring stack.

It is the 20mm one but also would need the "T" piece that goes on the south end of the 6mm rod. Plus as Patrick hinted to, the bore is a bit galled.
So I guess I will throw my spare 5 spd in it tomorrow.
Thanks all for the help!
