Not a fairing full-bagger guy, but the fairing is a hell of a lot better than the most common Harley Bat Wing. That's all you see on the road.

Looks like the factory has stuck a "steering stabilizer" on it to help with the steering flop. Check the motorcycle.com review. There's a picture of it too.

Here's the thing, "most" bagger riders are not speed freaks. They're riding for other reasons. The relative performance of the MGX-21 will matter mostly to non-traditional cruiser riders, who are coming off of sportier machines.

Most bagger riders don't care how high the engine will rev, or how far over the bike will lean. They're picking their machines for other reasons, and Guzzi will have to deliver on those if they truly want to break into the big cruiser market.

I think MGX-21 is pretty awesome, but I come from the opposite end of the rider spectrum than the average Sturgis attendee. Galluzzi and Guzzi may think they're marketing this bike to the "biker" crowd, but I'm not sure they'll be listening. Or, opening their chain drive wallets and slapping plastic on the counter...

Bagger guys love the "pose". If they can lean against the parking meter and tell all their buddies "it's the fastest, best handling bagger out there", well, then that's just icing on the cake, even if they never utilize it.

I doubt if the big wheel Fortress is any faster than the Cal 14 Tourer.

Anyway, that's what I've said since my first 1400 test ride compared to any other "bagger".

MGX-21 has nothing on the "160 mile per hour 120 inch Stage III" Street Glides and Road Glides "than can show them crotch rockets how it's done".

Those 120 inch bikes that rattle your teeth because the bars shake like a jackhammer? I've ridden one of the CVO bikes with St III. Awful. More shake than fast.

Take a "tour" on one of those.

I live on Hwy 90 in Missouri. A riders paradise. Revs and handling mean virtually everything to me. Originality, technology and innovation are added bonuses. The best "bagger" I ever owned was a 1998 EV that I put almost 100K on before selling.

I completely dig the MGX and should be getting mine really soon if the test ride meets expectations. I don't think Guzzi is out to convert any hard-core HD loyalists as much as announce to the world that Moto Guzzi actually still builds motorcycles. If they get some of the HD loyalists to remember that bike and talk about it with their buddies, who knows, maybe that'll mean more sold. Not everyone out there likes to march to the most common drum in the band. That's what brought us all here in the first place. We are all free spirits who like to make up our own minds. I just hope a lot, and I mean A LOT of new riders choose Guzzi and I think that was Galluzzi's intention...appeal to new riders.

I can't believe this guy is a motorcycle road tester writer. It doesn't seem like he's ridden a lot of different bikes.
