Bought my 2013 V7 used with 2100 miles on it a few weeks ago. I now have over 4200 miles on it and I can't stay off of it. It runs great most of the time. It appears to not like hot weather, when I ride it in town when it is 90 degrees or more it will surge and buck at 2500 -3000 rpm. It will also occasionally miss once on acceleration. Guzzi character?

Do you have any idea if it has the updated EFI map?

They can be a little cantankerous at startup on hot days, but I have not had any surging issues with either of my two 7s.

It's a Guzzi so they like to rev. I don't really recommend cruising at 2500, even in town.

Should be ok at 3000 which is torque Peak.

I am use to bigger vtwins so maybe I need to let it rev more. But it likes the lower rpm when cooler.

No!! A Guzzi should run perfectly at all rpm's. Look into it, something isn't right.

Your bike is suffering from Lawyeritis

The Engineers lost out to the Warmists in how to fuel an engine.

My '04 Breva 750 ran like pure schite when I bought it used in '13 with 6,000 miles. Bucked, spit, surged incessently.

An ECU reflash by Todd at GuzziTech cured all - all - its bad habits.

Now with 47,000 miles it is the all time favorite bike of my life.

Unless you have a vacuum leak or other mech prob, a reflash is all you need. Dealer maps prolly still infected with Lawyeritis.

Ditto for my former '13 Stone and my present '16 Stone. Something ain't right with your bike, it's not part of the "character" of these engines.

I bought my '09 V7C new and it was a low # for that year. It had a few fueling problems (hard cold starting, a little flat and stumbly midrange). Brought it in for 600 mile check and asked the tech to check for any updated mapping. There was, he installed it and has been perfect since,now 34K miles . May be worth a check and throttle balance, if you have a competent dealer. 2500 is lugging the engine, not recommended.

I too have a 2013 v7 and I would have said that is has 'character' too, sometimes even finicky, I have 23,000 km on it now, bought it new. I had upgraded my maps by buying todd's $500 programmer and found that the new maps made it more aggressive and ran smoother but I did still have some finicky issues like stalling on cold and funny throttle jumps in power when accelerating, but only sometimes. I eventually noticed that I had a bad spark plug cover and that there was some sparking from the wire to the cylinder when I removed the plastic cover and watched. A new cover fixed that up which was a bit expensive at $50 to buy as a part, but solved the problem.

Eventually I came across the software at the guzzidiag website and used it to load the latest factory map for my bike which is 352BV738. I have been running with that map and my fixed up plug cap for just a few days, but I am really happy with it. No cold stalling or odd throttle jerks, not quite as aggressive as todd's map, but it does seem to have fixed my issues. Based on what you describe I would look at your spark plug covers when running to see if you have arcing. Also if you need any advice on how to use the tool to update your map, let me know. I was pretty easy but I did have to buy a few things on ebay to facilitate it, for about $40. Dave

I'd go with a guzzitech map over a guzzidiag or factory map.

I also have a 13 V7C and noticed that as the weather got hotter 90+ it starting running more erratically. I'm also a old frugal type

(cheep) and was running 87 octane switched to 91 and the motor ran much better. Never really did ping just didn't run well. Not saying that's what your doing but it worked for me.

Guzzidiag is better. It allows you to alter the map and engine parameters when you wish.

If you have an older (pre2013) engine then I recommend MyECU, another programmable engine computer system.

I might suggest communicating with our own Beetle at Beetle maps . His customers all seem very happy with the price and service . Plus , Mark (Beetle) is really funny so you might get a laugh .

Did I mention he has the Official Roper Seal of Approval ?

I am trying to get ahold of Rose Farm Classics in Woodstock, IL and find out what services were done to it. The original owner took it there at 700 and 1900 miles for service. Thanks for all the info.

Though I had good luck with the Guzzitech map on my B11, I've been told by those in the know that they are not very sophisticated (I.e. they tend to be a rough single correction factor across the board).

I'm under the impression the Beetle maps for GuzziDiag are thought out much better.

Took it to the new Guzzi dealer in Neenah,Wi. He hooked up his laptop and it runs better. I also am keeping the rpms above 3000. Thanks for all the help. I also unhooked the O2 sensors, one was bad. Will be changing the plugs and caps and getting the valves checked soon.
Metro Motorcycle seems like a great dealer, very friendly and helpful.
