Straight spokes for the lemon
« on: August 12, 2016, 08:36:19 PM »
Following up on a post regarding the optional wheels for the Lemon. Based on parts images on Stein Dinse, the straight spoke type was an option on LM 2and 3. the look was as in the Cal 2 ,( rear wheel being the same) but the front wheel hub narrower to fit the deep plate LM brake rotors as well to be able to fit the 180mm ( narrower ) forks.  Here are now the finished wheels on the bike. Any questions , post away.

Didn't know there was such a critter, that is nice. Did you re paint or powder coat? I thinking about having a pair done this winter.

When you said straight spokes I thought you meant wire wheels which are lighter and were used by road racers back when those early LeMans were  current.  I put a `straight spoke' 16" front mag on my CX-i00 to have lighter steering and a wider tire (110/90) like my LM IV had, which I preferred..

They were on some Cal 2's but the narrow front was only an option on the LM3 (#10610350) . The Cal2 front wheel (#17610360) which is what mine was, has a wider hub. Found this out the hard way and had my local machinist mill the hub and disc bolt through width areas narrowed  as the bent spoke front wheel. The powder color I chose is  called Anodized aluminum .  As per the 16 inch wheels as AW mentions, I have no ownership experience on Guzzis , but  on My rubber band Ducati 750 Sport, they worked like a charm

As I recall, the LM1, LM III had narrower front forks than the LM II, CX100s, so on my CX I got a 850 T4? front mag 16" rim w/axle that fit right on my CX forks for $100.   If you have a Guzziology book you can find these combinations out.    I did have to modify my brake caliper mounts to fit the smaller brake rotors but it wasn't that hard.   :boozing:
