New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
Sorry that happened. Take that crank to a machine shop for a proper evaluation. At the cost of a crank you owe yourself that much. Then get Guzziology. It will answer all those questions and some questions you didn't know to ask.
Arizona Hardchrome in Phoenix could do that in their sleep. I've had many a Crank,Rotor,Pump shaft saved by them over the years and High Quality work. Give 'em a call and discuss it with them. 602 278 8671 Paul B
I would recommend getting it checked out to see if it can be saved. However, I did transplant a 2003 Hydro motor crank and rods into a V11 Sport.
All Guzzi cranks since forever have been nitrided. V11 cranks aren't listed as having oversized bearings and are in theory 'Ungrindable'. Problem is California cranks are essentially identical and you can get three over sizes so it's simply a matter of finding a 'Machinist' rather than a 'Monkey See-Monkey Do' emporium with a grinding bench. Also the reason your bike ran its big ends is well established. Fit a sloppage sheet during the rebuild or it will just do it again.Pete
Loose filter will definitely do it too! Yeah, a hose clamp will stop it unwinding although I've never had one loosen on a V11 but I tend to do them up 'F*#% off*' tight even if it means I have to drop the sump to get them off next time! It's better than buggered big ends!Pete

Just curious. UFI filter?
Called them today. They no longer grind crankshafts... At least it saves me a trip to Phoenix.
cruiser and sport cranks have different part #s because of different top end weights and balance factors. Carrillos are around 1/4 lb lither than stock. as long as you balance the crank, a Cal crank will work fine. If you can get a fingernail in the scoring, it needs a regrind.
