Stepper Motor Cycles on and off

Hi Guys

I have been advised by the guys at grisoghetto that this is the place to get some help. 

So I've had my GRiSO 1100 for about 2yrs now. Awesome machine and I love it to bits.

However, I have had an issue from the day I bought it with the stepper motor. The stepper motor cycles on and off after the ignition is turned off. This invariably flattens the battery. In my ignorance early on, I bought a new battery, saw that go flat, got a trickle charger..... eventually killed the battery...... I'm now looking to buy my third battery and have decided that I have to get my act together and resolve this stepper issue.

Firstly, is this a known issue? I've searched the net and find all sorts of stepper motor issues, mostly to do with the function of the Stepper motor. Not my issue. Everything runs fine except for this.
2. There is no Dash or ECU error showing on the on board diagnostics.
3. ECU connectors are fine.

The Griso Ghetto guys seem to remember someone on Wild Guzzi with exactly the same issue, but weren't sure of the resolution.

Any informed advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if this will be any help to you, but......

My 2009 Stelvio had the turn signals in the mirrors. Occasionally a bulb would fail, or the sockets would fail, from all of the vibration at the ends of the mirrors stalks. I would get a dash error showing a bad bulb. When I would park the bike, I would get the stepper motor running all night. Replace / repair the bulb, the dash error would go away, and the stepper motor would stop.

Oddly, I tried the reproduce it by pulling a bulb, and I would get the dash error, but not the stepper motor running. But no, I'm not dreaming it up.

So, I would go in and check for any errors. Maybe clear them out if there are any.
Have you had any dash errors?

Is the ignition switch actually switching everything off or is it fubar inside?

Unplug the switch and put a meter across the terminals to see

I disconnected mine, don't miss it. Even in cold temps, I just lock down the throttle and wait for it to warm up.

Because modern human beings are incapable of using a choke lever anymore to maintain idle when the bike is cold.

So did disconnecting the stepper cause any ecu errors?

I disconnected mine, don't miss it. Even in cold temps, I just lock down the throttle and wait for it to warm up.

I think we're going off piste

Disconnecting the stepper motor is done to stop weird and unwanted running problems (typically a high idle speed) and its usually done by blocking or putting a valve in the air feed line from the air box

Its got nothing to do with a stepper valve cycling after the bike has been switched off
