Oh No! Tire Thread!

Well, the pencil line showed up up running around the center of the tread on my PR-3. Historically this has happened to me moments before the core started showing through the rubber. The rubber is just touching the wear bars in the center.
With a PR-3 on the front I am planning to put a PR-4 on the rear..
Any problems with this? Reports from those using PR-4? Is there a better solution these days?

I used the Angel GT heavy load version until the PR4 came out. The PR4 is now my tire of choice on the Norge. Current set has about 10,000 on them, and still have some life.

I've mixed and matched PR3 and PR4 before, as well as crossing other tires, even across brands. Should be no problem.
My V11 Sport ate up my rear PR4- my Bandit, not so much (still running it).

Even though I can't afford it and it doesn't really need it I am considering changing the front at the same time. It has been many many years since I have had a motorcycle where both tires were round at the same time. lol
