Hey pickle,

Found the same here in Islip, CL...doesn't look all too threatening....anyo ne here?

http://longisland.craigslist.org/mcy/5676096297.html

There is a scam running on ebay/craigslist where the criminals are hijacking legitimate sales and using what appears to be the correct bank account.  They do a convincing job impersonating the seller.  A fairly shrewed friend of mine was recently bilked for 7000USD. The feds are working on it but those overseas mobsters are hard to catch.
This ev has sold at auction 3 times and still listed?

Sport I...fast red one

https://annarbor.craigslist.org/mcy/5767413611.html

Nice bike, but the red wheels don't work for me.

IIRC, the red injected models came with a grey Marchesini wheel.

The only museum around here (Cincinnati/Columbus area) that I can think of would be the the AMA http://americanmotorcyclist.com/hof/ which could be from there (the walls sort of look like it....). I haven't been there in a while (12 years I thinknow), and don't remember if they had any Moto Guzzis in there or not - The map of the CL posting shows Chicago area, but hard to rely on those anyway.

Running when parked.... CX 100

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/mcy/5779828755.html

They should have to pay money to put "running when parked" and "no title" in the same ad.

Works for me now that I'm in and get regular email notifications, so in that sense it's much better. I do think there may be less action though as other uses may not regularly come in here to check what's new, whereas in the General Discussion people may just take a peak at a new CL thread regardless.

If there were revenue coming in by us (Chuck mainly) posting CL threads to this forum, I'd say this killed business. Since that's not the case, then it's OK and keeps the General Discussion a little cleaner (though I've notice many CL post still end up there).

My 2 cents for the day. Hope that helps.

My idea was to generate discussion....post an interesting CL ad, see what everyone says.

"I had one of those.."  "Mine sucked..."   " mine was great..."   "Don't buy that version, get this one..."   "All I need to finish a restoration is a seat hinge..."   "I've got this old seat hinge, anyone want it?..."

That sort of stuff. In the main listing I was careful to id the post with model, date, location so people could decide quickly if they wanted to comment, or ignore

Over here seems to be a lot less spontaneous discussion. I don't quit understand why we would want fewer posts, and this CL stuff drops off the front page real fast if no one is interested. If it does spark some back and forth, the better, but seems to be a lot less in this divided section. I think we lost some back and forth here.

My idea is to pick up on the more unusual offerings, as well as highlight other models that were cool back in the day, and unusual cost opportunities, mismatched pricing, rare models...

We are going to unsticky this and see what happens . Probably leave it in this unified format for a bit longer , sometimes it takes time for folks to adjust .

I didn't see that this was "unstuck" proper wording?
I enjoy seeing what's out there for sale, especially the oddball, no longer being made stuff.
Keep it going Chuck. BTW, who's warming Bailey's breakfast plate now a days?

A look at the history of this combined thread, and a comparison to the typical length of the individual threads that preceded the combination, suggests that the combining of threads has had a dampening effect on replies and overall give-and-take. That doesn't seem to me to be an indicator of success.

I'd vote for de-linking the posting of Craigslist finds and similar posts and returning to the pre-existing practice of letting each post stand on its own. In addition to increasing the level of give-and-take on a specific post, this would offer the added benefit of allowing readers to quickly decide on whether or not to open a post based on the content of its title.

The combining of Craigslist posts in a single thread is an example of "fixing" something that wasn't broken.
