I live very close to Harriman State Park but when Blackcat dropped in for a visit on Saturday I took him in the opposite direction.
We rode over a ridge past Walton Lake and onto infrequently traveled roads: Goose Pond Mtn., Craigville Road North and across on Rt. 207 East past Stewart State Forest.
We stuck our heads into Motorcyclopedia in Newburgh but time was of the essence so we grabbed some free periodicals and went down the road to Brothers Bar-B-Que to get some take out for
SWMBO and the voracious 9 YO twins.
Rt.32 South brought us back to Central Valley/Monroe/Harriman and the electrical gremlins that had plagued Blackcat's CX100/750S homage had not surfaced.
Sure, his headlight looked like a votive candle in a dirty glass and yes he had no turn signals but his brake light worked (rear switch only) and we didn't see a lot of traffic anyway.
The way North saw more cows than cars, grazing peacefully on "working farms" that looked an awful lot like rustic mansions.
The Bar-B-Que was stashed carefully in a cooler behind me and we were but a few miles from home when the fire started.
I smelled it before I saw it but the smoke was curling over my right hand and trailing behind the bike.
Releasing the front brake cut the white smoke down to a wisp. As pictured above it was the banjo brake light switch. The insulation cracked and let the smoke out.
A pleading note to MG Cycle is being drafted (sigh). It looks like this Winter is going to be a rehab period for the Eldo while the Griso carries the mail.
K-line valves, rechrome braces, repair rear rack, SS headers, touch up paint...
The Griso, Blackcat's bike and the old nag:

Had to make sure what state you were talking about. There is a Harriman State Park in ID. Been on some of those roads and know the area. Good to see that you guys figured out the problem and caught it before frying the rest of the harness. Nice looking bikes.

On Friday the turn signals worked perfectly fine, well, except the left one doesn't work the traditional way because the headlight blinks on and off instead of the real turn signal.
Fun ride, good BBQ and fun day with my extended Guzziownr family.
PS. Thanks for the map, as I had almost no idea where we were.
