My wife is going to ride my Monster. I need a chase vehicle as that will probably be my first real ride on the bike and I will need someone to carry tools (and keep an eye out for parts falling off)

FYI, if you haven't already, you do need to register to do the ride.  Can't wait to see your cafe!

I signed up, I will get my wife to sign up as well.

Looks like it is going to be dry, but cool, which will feel downright cold after all this great warm weather. Not sure how I will dress.

It's looks like me and Petrus Rocks are riding in the Rochester NY  event....I need to hit the Goodwill Store for something to wear....I also need to find an appropriator bike...Pete has a Guzzi bobber and a 70's Triumph so I may ride on of his...

I wear thrift shopping mix and match.  Again this year I'll be in "Used car salesman" attire, have about $6.00 invested.  You won't miss me.

Wahoo--does my wife (pillion) need to register?   I'd hate to have to ride off and leave her standing on the curb....

Well now.... that's a bummer.  Nearest ride group is almost 400miles way.  Guess I'll be going solo since they won't let me start a group.

I am not sure anyone HAS to register.  I mean it's on a public road.

If you are in Marshall MI, then Detroit isn't that far.

Not far as the crow flies, but it takes a good 2 1/2 hours on I94 if the traffic is light.  I was hoping for something at least on my side of the state.

The official position is yes, all participants need to be registered.  That said, is there a role taken- No, at least not at our ride.  I can say with some certainty that we have had more bikes ride out every year than were registered.  But out here on the interwebz we have to stand be the rules (a winks as good as a nudge, no what I mean!).  The other down side to not registering is you can't view any of the rides, pics, etc.  It's kind of cool to start watching rides on the other side of the globe the night before ours as people post in real time.

The way I see it:  It's a charity ride or it's a bike show.

If it's a charity ride, then register, make a small donation, participate fully, and follow the organization's rules.

If you don't want to pay, then it's a bike show. You can show up and look at the bikes for free, but don't park with the riders and don't ride in the event.

yep Dusty.

At least here in OKC it's run by hipsters with old Beemers and BRAT-style rice burners, along with the RAT pack and some geezers on classics and new rides.  Few "biker" types, no choppers that I am aware.

My Guzzi and me are with the RAT Pack (Triumph, Beemer & Duc store) but it's the same ride for all us.  Triumph is big sponsor world-wide because it fits their products.  Guzzi is very much the same deal.

The guy leading it here runs a novelty store that sells upscale shaving gear (he has a full beard) and classic motorcycle gear (metal flake helmets) and barber shop.  I can't really figure it out.  I think we rode past it when you were last in town.

and there it is.  Been waiting for some bashing, didn't expect it from a moderate.  Awesome community.

I have no idea how you interpreted that as bashing  Merely pointing out the irony of so many anti-hipsters dressing up as hipsters to participate in a worthy cause . Sheesh

The first year, I was registered and ready to go. The day of the event, it rained (a lot). Since I live about 55 miles from New Orleans (the site of the event), I did not go. Last year, I crushed my foot in tractor accident (does that count as Guzzi content?) and was sidelined. This year, I am recovering from a knee replacement.

I may make this ride someday...maybe.

looks like rain and storms all day tomorrow here.  Tweed and kilts might be a tad drafty.

Our ride was great.
The rain held off.
Guzzi was nicely represented by my V7-II, a V7 Special, a V7 Racer and two 850 Lemans III.
And it was a thrill riding with so many bikes roaring into the grounds of Government House to meet the Governer General (the Queen's representative in Australia).

I even made the local rag in print & photo!

We had a great Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride in Edmonton today, beautiful 18C sunny weather, 84 riders, mostly younger fellas with beards and a few pretty lady's plus a handful of us old farts on old bikes. An eclectic mix of cafe racers, modern retro bikes (3 of the Guzzi racers), old Hondas and a couple Guzzis. A very enjoyable day raising money for a good cause.

Me on the right, Petrus rocks on the left. This was this morning just before we left

About 80 bikes in Rochester NY,  two Nortons, five older Triumphs, three BMW airheads, about 15 classic Japanese bikes, the rest were a mix of newer standard bikes...Not one Guzzi....
The event seemed to be run by Hipsters, some of the riders were Hipsters.....I talk to Hipsters, one of my best friends is a Hipster. There were hot Hipster women there....

our hipsters called it for rain.  They'll give it a shot in a few weeks.   :weiner:
