Can a CalVin ECU be reflashed?
« on: September 14, 2016, 11:01:19 AM »
A friend has a CalVin.  When he puts a V11 Sport ECU on it it runs great.  Can he "reflash" his existing CalVin ECU or does he need to find another V11 Sport ECU.
Thanks in advance.   :thumb:

Yes. I ran a V11 sport (Scura) ECU in mine for 5K miles.  Transformed the bike.  With the one exception- it would ping under load when hammering the throttle.  It was a timing issue, Calvins are dual plugged V11 Sports are not.  Todd @ GuzziTech reflashed my stock ECU with a similar map.  All was well, and continues to be with its new owner.

Yes. Read and save the original map.

Be warned that it goes from a single plug timing profile on a twin plug.

I don't think 15m maps can fit on 15RC at least when I tried.

Better to get another 15M.

I kept getting error about the size of the map but I forget if it was 15RC to 15M or vice-versa.

John,

PM me your email address and I will send you a V11 sport map with a modified ignition curve for less pinging. I am still working on it so further mods will happen. Still the map makes a world of difference.
