A beemer Grom... I like it.
Unmitigated risk aversion is the new Puritanism; complete with witch hunts funny outfits and humorless preachers thundering doom. The Deity is Safety; Satan is a Lawyer; but the object is the same: to suck the life out of life and tell you how to live it.

To many motorcycles, not enough money... I'd love to have one to take quick twisty rides on the mountain roads where I live. It would be a an eighth to tenth bike though😉!

Yeah, that's great.

I still cannot understand BMW discontinuing the long-running (pun intended) and very reliable 650 single with no replacement.

Interesting engine orientation, intake and air box on the front, exhaust on the rear.  Wonder why no belt instead of the chain. Designed in Berlin made in China?  Overall seems like fun, like the looks, hard to imagine BMW owners going that small, and of course over priced parts!

I can't understand why these bikes are so often single cylinder machines. Having grown up with a Suzuki X6 Hustler and some Yamaha RD twins, I'd like to see more small bikes with more than one cylinder, but it seems today's manufacturers have decided that's too complex.

The ill-fated Cannondale a few years back also had the intake up front, exhaust out the back.

Designed in Germany made in India, not China.

According to the article, they wanted to be the next bike up from the 250 class that an owner would want to keep.  Made in India to their spec's.

Why would a small displacement twin be superior to a single ?

This single is meant for a 89mph top speed with a single.  Seems plenty robust to around town duties with more torque than a twin.

More top end horse power but less low end torque. Hmmm, probably not a good trade off on a Guzzi forum...

I think the design intent was for the class of rider just above entry level.  More interested in torque than horsepower.

Why no belt indeed? New riders aren't likely to be up on all the maintenance routines of bike ownership. Belts have proved indestructible and maintenance free on my HDs. I've put Sportster belts through all kinds of abuse both on and off road, not one has ever let me down. Really poor decision on BMWs part.

BMW used to represent low/easy maintenance and high reliability. Ever since the demise of the airheads they've consistently gotten less reliable and harder to maintain. I'm still sour about having to deal with 2013 Husky TR650 that neither BMW nor KTM will address the fueling issues it has.

Happily my Stelvio ticks all the right boxes and has been bulletproof to date.  :thumb:

Not necessarily superior, but not inferior either - just different.

I am simply disappointed that the small twins are so hard to find in the newer designs, since choice and variation are a 'good thing'. Right now, the 250/300 group are a bit too cookie-cutter for my tastes.

Nice looking bike but would still take the KTM 390 Duke over this one.

Yep, and that's why I switch to Guzzi.  The smallblock has all the easy maintenance of the BMW airheads.

Already got a city bike. 35hp should be no problem, either.

Going for this look;
