Scura vs. Tenni - what makes one more valuable than another?
« on: September 28, 2016, 06:21:28 PM »
Heading out to look at a Scura in a week...looks like a well sorted, thoroughly inspected and ready to ride bike, so I'm excited that it may be in my garage in a week's time.  Having read back thru many of the threads related to Scuras (single plate vs. double plate, RAM clutch etc.) and various other niggles...I am really looking forward to getting on this one and riding it, and hopefully bringing it home with me.

Just got me thinking about what the main differences are between the Scura and the Tenni as they are both beautiful bikes.  Are they basically the same bike with just a different color scheme, or are there some material technical differences (shocks, suspension, tuning or other?)

For those fortunate enough to have both in the stable or have ridden both, how would you describe the differences...if any?

Thanks!

Bit difference is suspension.  Scura has the Ohlins suspension and Ohlins Steering Dampner.  Not sure if the Tenni has a single plate clutch or not.

The Tenni is a paint job and a number on a V11 lemans i.e. half faired bike. The scura is a naked bike with Ohlins and few carbon bits and pieces I can't remember if it also came with an aftermarket exhaust from the factory for off road use only cough!

To me the tenni is a styling exercise the scura had a bit more substance to its "limited" edition status. Unless Guzzi actually manage to go racing successfully I doubt either will be particularly valuable in the future.

I began with an '03 Sport, and over the years have replaced the original suspension with Ohlins shock and forks.  Now having many miles on both set ups, I can tell you that the Ohlins stuff on the Scura is definitely worth it.  The Tenni is just a Le Mans with different paint.  I thought the Tenni had a dual-plate clutch, though.

Nope, the Tenni is a single plater. The Scura is, too.. but has Ohlins. The small price difference in them makes the Scura the winner if you are looking for a rider. The Tenni is certainly more rare. <shrug>

The stock Ohlins suspension may be a little too soft for anyone heavier than about 170 pounds.  Any good suspension shop can fix that with new springs etc.

I liked my Scura, the best shifting motorcycle I've ever ridden.

Indeed...I'll budget that in as well...given the soft suspension on the stock Norge, I found a remarkable change when upgraded to the Wilbers, especially riding 2 up.  Just part of the normal customization and tweaking!

Thanks again!

I'm 230 lbs, with a Tenni. Maybe I cannot ride a bike, but I don't have a problem with Tenni suspension... I'm sure the Ohlins are a better choise.
Two very different bikes with same single plate clutch. I loved the way Tenni looks, so thats what I got. It will never be collectible and I doubt the Scura will be either. Well, not in my lifetime.
My 2 cents would be to see and ride both, buy the bike that speaks to you.
