They must have a s**t-load of those engines in a warehouse somewhere.

Interesting, but to my eye the nose is too long, the mirrors are a bit odd for that style and the forks are kinda skinny.

These forks looked "rather spindly" also ...but with a San Jose fork brace...it handled quite well! (LOL)

43mm, according to BMW specs. Not sure why they didn't use the 45mm USD forks on this.

I had one of these back in the day - 1999 BMW R1100S - in black, just like this one, named "The Bat Cycle." (lol)  Actually, it handled and braked well, engine was fine, 6-speed, and it was quite the capable sport touring bike. :1:

Yes, you are right, and there is no comparison...as I had an '83 850 LM-III at the same time as that Beemer.

Ducati has a seemingly good platorm for a racer inspired bike in the form of the scrmbler lineup, too. 

Ealier post mentioned the r1100s.  My best fiend had one in school bus yellow. I think it was a perfect bike.  I coudnt find one when the next bike bug bit, so i got the guzzi.  No regrets on the Guzzi 1200s, but the r1100s was a marvelous bike to consider.

I agree.  Would look much better with a standard headlight and Dart/other screen.  Also, get those bars up and back a little bit.  My back would scream at me.

Honda has done some very very good red white and blue schemes over the years - this one is pretty pale in comparison. However; it may look better in person.

Skinny tires: My CB1100 has skinny tires and they make her so much lighter on her feet and fun in the tight twisty bits, I don't diss skinny tires (forced to go a wee bit bigger to get the Road Pilot 3's, she is still pretty light on her feet so it's not all in the tires).

Over all, they did a good job.

R nineT spin-off models in the 'Heritage' series will sell a lot of bikes for BMW.  Moto Guzzi should take notice, there are many past models they could choose from to add to the choices available.  How about a new Le Mans 'Heritage' with the V9 engine?

I think you're right about the R9T.
When I first saw it I thought BMW had tried to build on the Griso.
Guzzi should have used the Griso as the basis of similar exercises that BMW use R9T.

What would have to be done to an MGS 01, to fit an 8 valve Norge motor in? Or is it just not possible ?

The 1100S was a nice bike, a gentleman's ride.  The subsequent, one-year-only, R1200S blew the 1100 out of the water on performance. The 1200 had much more power and less weight.

Yeah, I just read that the engineers managed to get the cam-head past the latest Euro requirements.
