Hey kids............... .. OK came back from a trip with the Norge and had to leave the bug guts and carnage on the machine for a few weeks.
So started the clean up program today and found that there was more required than a deep cleaning of the frontal area painted surfaces as well as the windshield.
Used a light scratch remover polish and didn't move any of the marks off the painted surfaces as well as the windshield....... what the F---.

Any ideas on what to use for removal??

Wet towel left on over night, wash as usual next day with plenty of car wash and water. Gently. That's what I would do...open for correction...

One of the friends uses Hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. Found one at Walmart. The stuff emulsifies the dried bug goo. Seems to be safe on plastic windshields too.

Motul Bug Hydrator , gets them back to mushy, and also swells up paper gaskets like the 976139 so they scrape right off

I wet a towel with as hot a water as I can stand to deal with and put in over the windsheild. Generally 10 minutes does it and the bugs will wipe right off. Then use a regular cleaner. If you ask nicely many motels will give you an old towel to use for that purpose.
You can also stop by pilot's shop at an airport and buy canopy cleaner. It works well up through moderate bug crap levels and is very safe to use.

Leave her out overnight in the rain.
18 hour soak softens all the critters.
Wash next morning before the bike dries.

OK .......... so far none of those suggestions worked???
Appears like the clear coat is stained where each one met its doom........ next step a light cut polish I think unless there is another chemical cleaning solution.

Hydrogen peroxide. Very fast, simple, safe, and cheap. Spray on, wait three minutes wash off.

Pro Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish and let it sit for an hour. WD40 also works great as the guys say. Why do you think these bugs are so tough to remove? Any unusual conditions?

The Honda spray cleaner works for me. It's sometimes weeks or (dare I admit it?) months between thorough cleanings of bug guts off the windshield, and I can get it looking like new again with that stuff.

Maybe we have wimpier bugs here ... ?

The problem is.. AH said ocd cleanup. Dorcia is ocd, and when she gets into a cleaning frenzy, she's not done until whatever she is cleaning is better than new.

She can and will find the smallest imperfection. Got it?
I think Plexus is The Answer. Yes, I've used the above methods, but Plexus was developed for aircraft windshields. It will (eventually) get all the bug guts off, and micro polish the plastic surface. Takes time and.. uh.. ocd.

I don't think Turnip washed his hot dog & mustard EV at all. He did post some pix of him attending a benefit bikini bike wash.

The bike didn't get washed then either.

Hand glaze from an auto parts store, then wash and wax.....very much like Plexus...
I've used it to bring back windscreens scratched and cloudy...you'da thrown them out.....lotsa work though....

But where does the rain come from ? Do I need to move to a different place ?

Yes. That's the wet stuff like water that comes from the sky. Sometimes called precipitation. You may not get "rain". We don't in Hawaii. The National Weather Service calls it "showers" Even if it's 4" in an hour and everything is being flooded.

OK kids........ listen up.
Appears that this is an issue that can happen when bug guts and bird matter are left on the paint surfaces for an indefinite time frame.
Here's the spoiler...... whatever chemical is present in that shit will deform the paint and or clear coat to the point that it will need to be wet sanded out or repainted all together.
Oh and I forgot to mention the plastic windscreen on the Norge is toast as well............ that's the deal.

So keep your treasures clean or suffer the consequences unless of course you don't care about appearances........ . in which case ignore all the above.

MPH did perform a goo-ectomy...I believe it was declared a rolling environmental hazard. We had picture of the workers in masks and protective gear.

No, it's not. It involves *work* though.. a four letter word. Back in another lifetime, I was an engineering model maker for GM, and made many prototype tail and head lights from sheets of plastic. Trust me. It will take you all day to clean up that windshield to optical clarity.. or you could just buy a new one if that's what you want.

there are some things even the bikini clad girls wouldn't touch.
MPH abducted my bike and took it to the car wash. I have a special parking spot behind the dumpster.

I use to keep mine clean and polished until moved out to the country with three miles if unpaved road. It was a losing battle so now I try to just keep them functionally clean. If I clean them up to much I see all the road chips in the paint etc.

You've all heard: The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain. I'd like to add : The precipitation in Portugal pelts primarily on the plateau.
