Will be interesting to see how they replace such things as heavy truck and construction equipment i.c. engines (just to name two) with electric.
It's called fusion, and it's being researched now. Several test reactors in differing designs (laser-implosion pulse, plasma, and so on) are in use and development. It may not be free, but it will be relatively cheap, won't produce fuel wastes that can be used for weapons, and doesn't require fuel that is radioactive in the first place.The problem is that taking it from theory or demonstration to production requires another kind of unicorn, known as a 'breakthrough'. IIRC, a big reason to switch to IC engines was the pollution by horses in the cities, manure & effluent etc.
