Good Lord, I'm really liking this Rosso Corsa
« on: October 27, 2016, 01:40:54 PM »
I've been doing a remodel at the California State Capital on the 6th floor.  It's a night /weekend job because we don't want to upset the Politicians / Suits from their "important" work.  whatever that is

The project should have been done months ago but the changes these guys can't use a measuring tape along with the insane pickiness of inspection is dragging the completion out.  yes we are building the Taj Mahal

I had to visit the project to measure the exact angle of a wall corner for a custom-custom stainless steel corner guard.  It turned out to be 130 degrees.

So I took my recently acquired Rosso Corsa on a Banzai Night Run to the Capital.  55 miles round trip from Folsom, 9:00 at night, still relatively warm.

Being California, the State Politician's Paranoia require Three Security Officers and armed one CHP inspect, detect and neglect me as I went through the metal detectors to get in.  Of course I used my FBI/NSA/DOJ screened electronic Contractor badge to open the door to the building. What did we do in the past and how many undeserving Congress Critters ever been attacked at the State Capital Building for the last 100 years?

After three minutes of measuring, re-measuring and re-re measuring I had my angle.

On my way home chuffing along at 80+, I was thinking of how lucky I was to be able to make the run.  The Lemans felt wonderful although I know my legs will need periodic "stretching" for really long rides.  The fairing was doing it's job keeping the wind blast off me and I could actually lay on the slippery tank.

Well at least working for the next 5-8 years will allow me to ride for work more.  To bad I can'g get a project in Burney Falls where I could ride then fish Hot Creek on a job visit

Good story, but look out!

"Slamming the source of your paycheck on Social Media" has led to much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the outer darkness in these benighted days .... !   Big Brother could be watching ....

One day back in ... I forget, but mebbe 2005 ... I was hanging around ATD -- Atlanta-Triumph-Ducati ... & Moto Guzzi & MVAgusta & I forget, but only Triumph and Ducati made the name cut.

ATD's been out of business for years, but I miss it and the folks there.  Good young men.  Hope they are doing OK in whatever they are doing today.

But, yes, I digress.  You are surprised?

Anyway, so while I was there, a crew from Barber MSP came and efficiently and too quickly took the Rosso Corsa from the window and off it went to that spectacular museum in Alabama.  I was torn between tears and cheers.

Yes, millions would, over the years  ahead, stare lustfully at it in Leeds, but I wanted it right then ... and ever since.

I still think it the best-looking Guzzi ever made and even Kathi can -- from my endless drooling whenever I see one in the flesh or in pixels -- ID one from all of its many pert-jug sisters.

I am happy you enjoy yours so much.

Bill

Oh, yeah. I agree. My conundrum was I was bringing the Mighty Scura back from California, and Rosie and it would be sitting side by side.
Rosie lost.
Sorry. She didn't have all those go faster goodies internally, and wasn't quite as "factory" externally.
That said, she was certainly prettier, and will always have a place in my heart.
Fortunately, she found a new keeper in my friend, Jim, who says he'll never leave her.   :thumb:

that is really sad..
Well, that is what museums are about. Many will now see a Rosso in all her glory that would have never seen one. <shrug>
