Ya gotta remember - a trade-in is just a chance for a dealer to make money twice on one transaction chain. A dealer doesn't calculate the profit on the new vehicle till he sells the final vehicle in the trade-in chain.

Identical bike to mine except mine has the stock screen (not sure about this one). Mine is around about era of the suspect oil pump, Pete mentioned '07 Red Norge's were the most likely if I understood correctly but mine's got 105,000 up, and has never had a mechanical failure here in Australia or Europe. Does seem like at that price you could go through the oil pump anyway for peace of mind.

A good point - though it already has a reasonable number of miles and years, it should be VIN / date-of-build checked by the buyer to see if the oil pump falls within the range or even nearby.

Like other 2007s, it could probably use some suspension upgrades if they haven't been done. Still, it's a great way to get into sports-touring with a minimal budget.

I just now spoke to the dealer. He says the reason the price is too good to be true is that the PO scuffed the fairings, then rattle canned the paint. He says it looks pretty darn shabby, tho it runs good. A trade in which they would rather not have on their floor. I hope to go see it tomorrow. If so, I'll at the least take some close up pics and post them here.

BTW -- the $500 sale is for their mailing list members; and it's actually "up to $500"... depending on ... I dunno what. He's gonna put me on the mailing list and shoot me that email.

The garage is damn crowded already, and Bearswatter is on the warpath -- but I try not to let that redhead gal influence my Multiple Bike Disorder. However, if someone wants this, I can check it out, score it for them, ride it home, and garage it here (Newark, Delaware 19713) for pickup at your jolly convenience. We even have a guest broom if you come from afar. Philly airport forty minutes away. A couple cigars and a beer or two is all I need for my trouble. Just PM me. Norge is definitely not my kinda bike... way way too much tupperware for me. But this looks like a dandy deal for someone who wants to tote plastybits to a paint shop. Just enough miles on her to keep the engine sweet.

Without taking time to dig up the thread with that info, my memory says the affected bikes were MY 07, built roughly between November 06 and February 07. The reason for the wider range is that I recall a few outliers to the main group of affected machines.

Oops! I did not realize that this was a private, e mail sale. I just assumed that with the cold weather coming, the Dealer would like to move product.

Btw, they have quite a few desirable bikes on the floor with significant discounts, a chrome tank v 7, a few Ducatis and Triumphs, and a Honda CB1100.

If I post anymore about this, I'm going to ask the dealer for a commision

Same  goes for my 2008 1200 Sport, with nearly identical powertrain.  I'm pushing 63,000 miles, and the bike has been a spectacular ride, but horribly boring when it came to maintenance issues.  No ring jobs, no valve jobs, no clutch replacement, ( matter of fact, still rolling along on the original rear shock.)  Just one hell of a good bike!

Well if its been done right, it doesn't need the bottom yoke replacement and its got a twin plate clutch its golden! Nice score.

The bottom yoke was replaced at the same time, I'm not sure about the clutch though.  Do you know if replacing the clutch was part of the recall ?

As millions of Milwaukee machines attest, chrome isn't soul.   

OTOH, as the owner of an EV, tho, a Mandellan tart if there ever was one, I suppose I shouldn't throw stones. 

Still, there are lots of sorts of souls out there, and all of my Guzzi's have had those, and the Norge -- cursed tupperware notwithstanding -- in some respects most of all.   

The Norge is a stupendous machine that makes me grin whenever I ride it, even when Kathi is pounding my back and telling me not to be stoooopid.   

I've always liked the Titanium; nice choice.

Some good deals out there. Helped a customer get an 08 black Norge w/all acc  that there is. At 23K it was had for $3700. Nice bike.

Well, I ain't going.

First place, I talked to a half dozen paint shops yesterday. Most wanted to get all hyper phobic like I was going to take them to court and sue their shop and double wide right out from under them if they guessed me an estimate and tried to charge a penny more. But a couple came in guessing two grand, and one place on line, and one place on line proposed 400 & up for one color tank and fenders. Gotta figure, there's a whole crapload of tupperware here, from the belly pan to the panniers. Couple grand brings me close to break even, if I did the project. Nor is sanding my preferred type of project.

Second place, more I look at this, the less I would ever want to ride it. I've whirled round the block on beemer RTs several times. Hate 'em. I've worked on half a dozen. You waste an effin hour and a half just pulling plastic before you can get to the task. I like my bikes the way I like my women: nekkid. They do their best work that way. Fairings, windshields, you can have 'em. Engine, tank, wheels, let's ride.

Third place, my buddy texted me to propose we crack into his beehive today and harvest honey. He scored one of those Aussie jobs where you crank down the comb. I'm in. I need some local honey to fight the tree pollen this time of year.

If someone wants me to spec it out for them, fine. I'm sure they'll be glad to sell it for two grand next month.
