My 1991 R100GS odometer rolled past 50,000 miles this afternoon.  Since the odometer only reads to 99999, one has to add another 99999 to the current reading.  I've never owned a bike long enough to put over 150,000 miles on the clock except this black and yellow "bumblebee."

When I sold my '60 R60, it had rolled the clock over. However, it was 38 years old at the time. I knew I should have picked up one of those airhead GSs back in the nineties. I still have a BMW catalog from 1995...

When I traded the old G5 it reputedly had over 400K on the clock and the cases had never been opened. Keep up the maintenance and you'll be fine.

Along that same line, a guy contacted me yesterday about fixing his spare gauges on a 1978 R100/7. He got it new as a teenager (wonder how he came up with the money???) and has been riding it ever since. It now has 450K on the clock! He says he puts on about 40K a year, and is shooting for a million miles.

My 77RS (started life as an S) has 140K - so I'm a little ways behind you. But I don't rack up enough miles on it lately to catch up - especially since I'm riding that damn guzzi all the time!

So, let's see, born in 1959, bought a new BMW in 1978 when he was 19, that was 38 years ago, and has 450,000 miles on it.   So that's about 12,000 miles a year .... ? 

He's got some serious work to do to crank it up to 40,000 a year ... he's 57 years old so at 40K per year he'll be 71 when he meets that goal ...

Could be done but he's gonna have to pin it .... Good luck to him.

When the GS was about 15 years old, I'd joke about it outlasting me.  Now that she's going on 26, and showing no signs of quitting, it ain't no joke!  You're right ...... she's just an adolescent!

I'm wondering if the V9 might be an equivalent ....... about the same hp, and I'm sure the V9 doesn't have the gummika(sp?? rubber cow) frame.  I'd love to have a 400 pound Guzzi Sport similar to my 1200 Sport.  Wouldn't need 95hp either .... maybe 60-65 would work.  Don't need more bikes with 32 inch saddles either, with my 29 inch inseam.

Rumors on the web of a v7 III are encouraging.
