Securing helmet

Are there any ideas on securing an open-face helmet to a V7 Stone? I'm surprised all helmets don't have a ring or some connection to attach a simple cable lock.I know a determined thief can still win but I'm just talking about being able to take a walk and generally keeping on eye on the bike.

I've wondered about this too. I think there is a wire mesh/sac that you can put the helmet it, then lock that - so far I think that seems to be the only way to secure them. I tried looking for it to post a link here, but I can't seem to find it. Maybe I dreamt about it and it doesn't actually exists..

I think you are refering to a pacsafe

I guess the helmet lock on the motorcycle isn't enough "security" for you?

There's not a hook under the seat?  Every motorcycle I have ever had has had that.  Hook the helmet D-ring on the loop and lock the seat over that.

What helmet lock on the bike? My helmet has no D ring.

Maybe get a decal for your helmet that makes it look as if it were cracked and thus not worth stealing?

I've not found a helmet lock on my 13 Stone either. I also just looked in the owner's manual and it didn't mention one either.

On my '04 EV, I wouldn't want to hang my helmet from it as it would cook on the pipes

Open face helmet with no D ring. The only lockable solution I can think of is a lockable top box! Years ago I adopted the go to a hardware store and get a section of chain and a cheap ace padlock (chain comes in any length you need) but that was with a full face helmet with no D ring. Face it there is nowhere on the helmet to lock to!

  Just another reason helmet laws suck, they encourage helmet theft.

You could sew a single D-ring onto your strap just for the purpose. Use upholstery thread, a needle and a thimble. Or a sailor's sewing palm. Cut the D-ring and its anchoring length of strap from an old helmet.

If you lack a useful hook on your bike, any hardware store should be able to make you a short length of plastic-coated 1/8-inch cable with crimped loops at either end. About $10 when I had this done. Use it with a small padlock.

If think you don't know how to sew, just do it anyway. It's not rocket science and you're not going to need a DOT-worthy attachment. Use a single D-ring to keep some ninny from using your setup to secure the helmet to his head after the other connector has broken.

Or buy a new bike and helmet that have a hook and a D-ring. Or buy a cheaper helmet and hang it on your handlebar or over your taillight, unlocked, which is what I usually do. Or put your Wildguzzi user name on your helmet in big block letters like a fighter pilot so no one will want to steal it.

I carry around a small retractable cable lock that I run through my d-ring and passenger grab-handle. Sew on a D-ring per Moto's suggestion , and wah-la.
Can you drill a small hole through the helmet that would fit a cable?

Go to your friendly neighbourhood canoe/kayak outfitter and buy a glue-on D-ring patch.
