Heard there is a yearly tax on motor vehicles in Co. Can someone describe how this works and do they also charge for non-registered/parts bikes?

My research into moving to Colorado looked very friendly to bringing multiple motorcycles into the state. Grand Junction has an amazing amount of wine vineyards, check out Gray Stone!

Don't make the mistake ( I guess it's a mistake, I've never lived there ) of just passing through Grand Junction on US 50 and drawing your impressions from that.

You'd think the whole area is just one huge depressing railyard, trucking terminal, and industrial park .... !

Probably need to get out in the countryside to get the full picture.

CO. 141, my favorite road in the state is right there. I spoke with a gentleman (not one of you guys

) who said he retired to the west side of the state because there was less snow and good fishing nearby, good points, but I have been in grand junction in the summer a few times when it was 110 degrees.

They have a great down town area with good food and shops, the colorado monument is great and the ride from junction to Rangley is great. I lived in Rangley 30 years ago. Grand Junction has come a long ways since then. spent a few days there this summer on a ride to Denver.

I was there in June. It was in the 90s. Hot run down the full length of 141. Was glad to get back up to elevation on 145.

Moving from Schenectady NY area. Hopefully in 18 months or so. Spent a week in the GJ area this fall and it was very nice. Riding is quite different from the east. Might need to get back into dirt as there appears to be almost unlimited off road opportunities.

For example: John Brown Canyon from Gateway Colorado to Moab. Cool stuff...

You'll enjoy it. Nice town. If you do off road riding. Part of the equipment that you should take is a firearm, knife with the rest of you off-road kit. Check the local laws. To help you take a look at a map. Not as many roads as NY. Don't depend on GPS or a cell phone.

I like Grand Junction , an interesting mix of cowboy , blue collar , Colorado Cool , with some great restaurants and places to ride .

Hah! Perhaps some parts as well..I'll definitely let you know if that happens. Just found a 68 Metralla so the collection continues to grow despite my efforts to downsize.
