Dee rides a # of bikes.  Some Guzzis, BMW or Honda.  Not really sure who owns them, her or her SO.

Pam & Ron rode their Guzzis pulling tent trailers all over the  US not too many years ago.

Andy and his wife in Indiana? both ride their Guzzis all over the place.

The only way I know this is I meet them @ Guzzi events.  A lot of Guzzi riders don't spend any time @ this forum.  If you want to know about them you have to go to MGNOC events.

The more names that people pull out of their....hats! The more I'm convinced that there are active riders that don't desire to post, male or female, for whatever reason. Either they don't feel they have anything to post that's worthwhile and some have said as much, or they don't feel that we've posted anything worth reading, one of which is demonstrably garbage and one just might be true, or something else...Huzo.

According to WRN, Women Riders Now and the Motorcycle Industry Council, 14% of all MC riders (drivers of MCs and not passengers) are women. http://www.womenridersnow.com/pages/more_women_riding_motorcycles_than_ever.aspx

According to this article in WRN, http://www.womenridersnow.com/pages/About_Women_Riders_Now.aspx

"And while the number of women riders continues to increase, those womenwhether they're new or experienced riders, passengers, or curious non-riders thinking about taking the driver's seatare not targeted by any large-scale national media outlet. The owner survey also revealed what type of bikes women prefer. Cruisers are the choice of 34 percent of female riders. Scooters rank a close second at 33 percent, followed by sportbikes at 10 percent."

From my perspective I tend to say city scooters are in a class by themselves as even those bigger scooter tend to not get out on the open road.
So maybe my perspective is wrong by limiting scooters as "non-motorcylers" even though they are on 2 wheels. But I think they are more likely to be used by city dwellers looking quick, cheaper mode of transportation that is easy to park and gets great gas mileage. The are not necessarily ridden by those who love the open road biking experience that surely dominates the conversation on WG. I am not trying to be a snob here. I am just making an observation that many scooters owners have a different reason for riding.
If 97% of MC magazines are male then one could extrapolate that an online forum like WG might fall in that range.
But like Triple Jim says their is more participation on Ninja 250 board due to women riding smaller bikes.

At Daytona Bike Week, Daytona Biketoberfest, and Sturgis I see large contingents of women riders. At TWO of Suches I see a smaller percentage. But I don't see very many Guzzi riders period.
That's why you get the startled looks and weird questions about your Guzzi when crowds of bikers are present.

Many older long time bikers are switching to maxi-scooters(like me) since they are easier to ride, maintain and give far better weather protection.  You just don't see many on the hiways...yet.  But as we all get older I predict that will change.  I've ridden my maxi-scoots to New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Idaho, California, Oregon, Washington so far.  :thumb: MG needs to come out with a maxi-scooter like BMW has.  :azn:

They do not appear to be under represented at rally's.  All I have attended had 25% or more women.

I would say if we were a sewing circle, men would be under represented.  I will admit, when I was young and living at home, I would sew and knit with my Mother.  That was way before the WWW though.

I thought this thread was about women who owned and ride bikes. The vast majority of women at rallies are passengers.

This thread started out about women who participate in Wild Guzzi.   That really says nothing about whether they go to rallies, ride pilot or pillion, work on their bikes, etc.

That's true about the guys too, come to think of it.

Is there anyone out the in WG land that does not own a motorcycle or has at least owned a bike or bikes in the past. Maybe there are some guys who are not riding now due to illness or age but they are bikers through and though.  Why would those (mostly women) who ride pillion as something they share with their partners give a care in the world about this esoteric group of almost all men who go on about everything from oil to the nuances between a V7 Sport and a 750S.

Seems reasonable. Does simply visiting the site count as being active or does that status require a posting?

9)  Marilyn in rides whatever is in the garage.  Her husband John bought Mtn. Bob's Jackal.

So Mtn. Bob sold his Jackle? I often wondered what happened to Mnt. Bob. He seemed to just suddenly disappear. Are you able to elaborate Tom?

Also, who was that English girl who was achieving minor miracles fixing up a Guzz on her back door step?  She had barely test ridden it when she seemed to evaporate.

Well, who else is actually going to ASK them what they think, if I don't?

If you don't, it's like trying to sit around in a circle and learn Hungarian with no Hungarian speakers or textbooks.   You can't just guess at it, you have to ask someone who knows ....

I'm thinking that should have been membership rolls, not roles, there's a difference in the implication between the two.

All it takes anyone is to be around the MGNOC long enough to observe women Guzzi riders and talk to them.  I happen to have 30 years of MGNOC experience and like to talk to anyone willing.  :azn:

I bumped this because there is a current post that made me think of this old chestnut.
Not trying to ignite debate because everyone’s opinion is as valuable as everyone else’s.
But statistically speaking..
If 15% of bikers are women.
Then 15% of Guzzi riders should be women
So
Why aren’t 15% of WG members women ?
If there were 200 active posting members, there’d be 30 women posting. Surely that would be somewhat a “breva” in some respects ?
They have a lot to say that’s worth hearing..(or reading)

See, here’s another thing.
Please take this in the spirit that I mean it and not run down a tangential path, that’s how trouble starts.
The picture of the beautiful Guzzi is worth the effort alone.
But here’s the thing..
The undeniably attractive lady is in the shot because she IS attractive and the unspoken implication is that she adds to the overall beauty of the shot..(which she demonstrably does)
But..
If she was a female clone of Pete Roper or Beetle, even though she would be the peak of knowlege and acumen that is available to the great unwashed like us, I doubt she would have been included.
Yes she is lovely to look at, but who (including me), wondered what her opinions, emotions and desires are.
It’s a bit of a commentary on us as a demographic....

I love the WG brain-trust and have never felt unwelcome.  I've been blessed to have met a few of you and one is also a member of my scooter club.  Of the lady riders I know, most spend their time out riding their scooters, not surfing.
