They came from my 1991 R100GS when I had the shop refresh the engine top end with new valves, guides, and springs.Just for grins, I tried to compress the valve spring by placing it between the heels of my hands and compressing it. It wasn't happening. I could budge it less than a quarter of an inch ... no more.
Virtually every major engine manufacturer on the planet experimented with desmo type valve trains at one time or another. They are just too noisy and no one could figure a method to use hydraulic lifters. Norton used "mouse trap" spring(s) on the Manx!Valve train design is like everything else, complicated and a compromise.
