     This interests me quite a bit.

     I'm a dog person, always have one around, presently have a nice German Shepherd, he's a great dog, but so attached to me, I could never leave him at a boarding  kennel etc. So when it comes to bike trips, I'm limited to day trips.

     I've read up on the different issues and flavours of sidecars,,, I'm very curious how you do your final set up to contain, restrain, protect your dog, and how the riding experience goes,,, particularly any wisdom you gain along the way.

     It's a very nice looking well built rig.

I have a Velorex 562 hack body that will get bolted on today. As for prepping the tub I have removed the seat, backrest and hardware to give Holly some room and keep her deeper in the car. I will get some indoor/outdoor carpet or a rubber mat to line the bottom. As for restraint I'm using 3/8" hardware to bolt the hack to the frame in 4 placed. Up front I'll use an eye bolt instead of a regular bolt. From there the plan is for Holly to wear a harness with a attachment point at her chest and only give her enough lead to stand up, lay down or sit. I want her to learn to stay totally in the car.

The only other modifications I'd like to make are since the back rest in the tub is gone I loose some lockable storage. I might make a plate with a hinged lockable door in it and put it place of the backrest . I'd also like to add a tank to carry about 10 or 15 gallons of water. Not for drinking or washing but for ballast. Top off with water when the tub is empty. When hauling the pup open and drain out the ballast.

The access door makes a lot of sense, I like that idea,,, both for getting the dog in and out, and training them on getting in,, and being confined/restrained,,, rather than trying to hop in and out over the sides.

From the little I've read on sidecars,,, I like your idea of the removable ballast,,, I haul drinking water in heavy duty square 5 gal containers,,, so I might be inclined to rig something like that securing it in place and removing it when not needed,,, rather than give up the space and have to empty and refill.

Are you planning to protect your dog's eyes with goggles,,, I've read it's important,,, but I don't think I could get them on my dog,,, a windshield would help,,, but my dog sticks his face out of the car window into the wind,,, I'm sure he'd do the same in a sidecar.

I've seen a few deals go by on sidecar rigs,,, some of them were butcher jobs or big bucks,,, I'll definitely keep my eyes open for something this winter,,, I like the look of your rig, very nice project.
