What motorcycle product or accessory would you rate a 10?
« on: November 26, 2016, 09:38:36 AM »
In your years of riding, besides a particular motorcycle, what product or accessory have you used that has performed so well that you would rate it a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale? Be specific with brand and model names so as to be helpful to others. I'll start...

Aerostitch Roadcrafter 1-piece suit - bought it in 1989 and used it on several long trips and whenever needed. The best!

Oxford Heated Grips- Installed at the beginning of this year and have performed flawlessly! Very well designed.

Hepco & Becker rear rack and 40 liter trunk - Bought the rack new and the trunk used, both are fantastic, trunk is easy on and off when needed!

Kuryakyn Universal Throttle Boss.  It's not a throttle lock, but a palm rest to keep the throttle open and let you relax your grip.  Unlike the velcro versions out there that tend to move out of position, this one stays in place.  And it won't transmit buzz/vibration like the hard plastic paddle devices I've used.  A great product for little cash.

Aerostich Darien jacket/pants in my case. Fantastic products!

Sidi boots. They have performed flawlessly for many years.

I bought a pair of BMW gore-tex lined gloves last year.

Combined, the above stuff keeps me completely dry and warm when needed!

Also having owned various brands of heated clothing, they have all performed well when needed.

Arriving at a destination without feeling you have been beat on all day really makes a difference. The above items do just that.

Ditto to the Roadcrafter, bought mine in 1997 and believe it or not--still fits. Often said that if all moto gear was lost, this would be the first thing replaced.

+1 on Aerostich Darien. I have two jackets and one pair of pants that make travel much easier. Expensive, but superb. Also, my Ikon 7613 alloy rear shocks have been flawless...and were a great value.

Acerbis Uniko ATV Handguards

My Mille doesn't have enough alternator output for heated grips or gear, and I wasn't crazy about my National fairing's wind noise, even after experimenting with the windshield height.  After looking around, I decided these handguards that mount only in the handlebar ends were worth a try.  Sure enough, when combined with good gloves, I had no problem with cold hands.  A Joe Rocket Survivor suit and an Alpinestars balaclava take care of the rest of me.

They mount very easily and have very well made, strong brackets.  In the spring, it took about a minute and a half to use an Allen wrench to remove them.  They'll be going back on shortly.

Custom fitted seat.  If you're not comfortable none of the other things matter.
After that, proper rain gear.  No going due to weather is not an option.

Huh? What?

Yep, only one making pipes, not just mufflers in early 80's. Euromart first in 80 on mine.
Then the Rennsport and Staintune came along. D&D in the 90's.
ALL a 10 over stock.

Have to say the aftermarket windshields and fairings have a large impact on riders.  They extended the riding season and gave more protection from the weather.  Everything else is fluff.

Good leather but too heavy for me.

Also love my Throttle rockers to save my right wrist on straight roads.

Aerostich!!!  Makes just about any weather condition rideable.

Sidi waterproof boots, which are no joke waterproof.

Heated electric vest.   I used to mock the idea of electric gear.  Until I got a vest for Christmas.
